Original BTC

Established in 1990, Original BTC designs and manufactures relaxed, familiar lighting for domestic and contract interiors. With the production process managed in-house using highly skilled and labour intensive processes, each and every light is made to last. Hand-assembled in Oxford from the finest bone china, metal and glass, the essential collection of table, floor, wall and pendant lights is instantly comfortable, unassumingly elegant and accessibly priced.

Six UK production facilities are dedicated to constructing the beautifully unprocessed lights. Metal shades and bases are hand-spun in the heart of the country’s metal-working industry, bone china shades are hand-cast in Stoke-on-Trent and glass shades are hand-blown in Birmingham.

One of the forerunners of industrial style, founder Peter Bowles’s comprehensive lighting catalogue includes utilitarian, statement and stripped back designs, united by a focus on longevity, craft and a passion for pushing the boundaries of production. Quality, detail and mix of materials is key. Metal, glass or china shades are paired with polished, satin or chromed bases, offset by matching cotton braided flex. Functional and practical, stems can be raised and lowered and shades angled to create the perfect ambience.

Two additional brands 'Davey Lighting' and 'Beadlight' are included under the Original BTC umbrella, bringing with them their products, skills and facilities. We are also fortunate to own six production facilities dedicated to our designs; these include a ceramics factory, glass factory and metal works. HQ and our assembly factories are based in Oxfordshire where Original BTC was founded.

With showrooms in London, Paris, New York & Taiwan, we work closely with retailers, interior designers and architects supplying products all around the world. We are very much an international business with sales to over 85 countries.
