Gnosjö Konstsmide GmbH

Gnosjö Konstsmide was founded in Gnosjö, Småland, in 1942 and is part of the family owned Gunnar Johansson Group. The Group has around 200 employees, of which about 45 are employed at Gnosjö headquarters. The rest work in subsidiaries in Germany, England, Finland, Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Norway.

Behind everything was a longing for something new. The year was 1942. One day, family man Gunnar Johansson found the courage to resign from the bus company and give free rein to the contractor inside him. His idea was to forge flower stands and decorations, focusing on quality and design. Soon customers came in crowds to Gunnar, who called his company Gnosjö Konstsmide.

Today, more than 80 years later, the company is still run by the Johansson family in Gnosjö. Our product range currently consists of Christmas and outdoor lighting, but with the same self-evident requirements for high quality and safety, as well as for stylish and functional design.

Especially in the darker seasons of the year light installations create moods and emotions of warmth, secureness and comfort within us. Inhabitants of the northern hemisphere are especially aware of this, therefore it is not surprising that the Company Konstsmide from the quaint Småland in Sweden is producing high quality outdoor lights since over 75 years. Up to this day models from the Classic line are manufactured through the cast-iron mold method in our own European factory. Within this small-series production we greatly emphasize attention to detail – manual craftsmanship from the first to the last production step in the old fashioned ornamental blacksmith tradition. Nevertheless tradition and progress are no contrasts for Konstsmide, but rather the foundation and the incentive for constant development, without losing sight of the original decades-long ornamental blacksmith tradition. Thereby this succeeds in a fusion between classical manufacturing and modern technology.

The brought and depth assortment from classical candelabras, to wall and path light, ground- und ceiling mounting lights, 12V and solar system, offers almost unlimited possibilities for an individual and elegant design of your house and garden. Thereby the products impress with their timeless and distinctive design whilst at the same time with uncompromised manufacturing quality, which is unrivaled on the marked. This is guaranteed by a permanent quality- and safety control through independent test laboratories. They are compliant with all current EU directives (CE, EN 60598, EN 55015, EN 62471, IP-class) and thereby live up to the highest safety requirements. Sustainability and conservation of resources are challenges of our time, in which Konstsmide takes account for through investment and development of energy efficient and environmentally friendly products. The responsibility for co-workers, customers and the environment is reflected by the manufacturing processes. Over the cause of the price fight of the manufactures, this most often falls by the wayside. As a Company Konstsmide goes in another direction and guarantees this through compliance with social standards (SA8000), ISO certifications (ISO 9000 / 9002), REACH regulation, RoHS directive, as well as strict internal code of conduct. The constant development and reevaluation of processes results in state of the art products, which also ensure their advantage in the future.

Innovation and quality are the foundation stones Konstsmide has relied, relies and will rely on. Being innovative is a prerequisite for creating the sustainable and environmentally friendly products our customers want. That we in the mid 1990s were the first in the world to use LED technology in our Christmas lighting still keeps us one jump ahead. In order to always offer safe and durable products, our entire business needs to be shaped by distinct quality-oriented thinking. We can guarantee production thanks to our own factories in Sweden and Hungary, as well as the close cooperation with our partners in China. Our products also undergo extensive third-party testing in order to be the safest on the market.
