Aircraft logo lights are flood lights that are generally mounted on the upper surfaces of the horizontal stabilizers and are aimed to illuminate the airline logo custom markings painted on each side of the vertical stabilizer. Logo lighting allows airlines to strengthen brand identity while making it easy for pilots to spot aircraft on the ground and in flight. Right now logo lights are dominantly LED luminaires which use semiconductor emitters noted for their high luminous efficiency, solid state durability, long source life, and significantly reduced size. An LED logo light is generally a self-contained system that has an integrated power supply. The asymmetric optics provide uniform distribution of light with high optical efficiency.
