Commercial aircraft is provided with internal lighting throughout the cabin (passenger compartment). The variety of cabin lights include cabin overhead lights, sidewall lights, passenger reading and table lights, passenger information signs, passenger advisory lights, entry door stairs lights, and toilet lights.

Aircraft interior lighting which used to be provided by fluorescent and halogen lamps has seen a monumental shift toward LED technology. LEDs are projected to last significantly longer and operate more efficiently than traditional light sources. Dramatically reduced source sizes enable more freedom in new lighting form factors and allow to create a cohesive spatial experience by integrating, infusing and organizing lighting into a coordinated system.

LEDs are inherently dimmable and can respond instantaneously to changing current. The digital nature and excellent spectral controllability make it possible to simultaneously take into account the requirements for good vision as well as emotional and biological needs. The use of tunable white and intelligent color LED systems enables to create appealing atmospheres and provide positive psychological stimulation that are conducive to passenger comfort, performance, health and well-being.
