PoE Lighting

Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology transforms the Ethernet infrastructure from a fixed expense to a strategic asset. By using the Ethernet network as the artery, both data and power can be delivered to LED lights over a single Ethernet cable. Operating over PoE, an LED luminaire is directly networked and becomes an IP-enabled device. The capabilities of the luminaire are extended beyond their native features. The consolidation of disparate LED luminaires into a single unified system facilitates data-driven energy management and integration with the Internet of Things (IoT). PoE lighting provides features and benefits that are not obtainable with wireless lighting solutions. As a highly scalable technology, a PoE lighting network can be readily expanded to meet the needs of a commercial facility as it grows. With PoE lighting, a digital ecosystem can be created with low overhead costs, while providing reliable and high-bandwidth communications to enable smart lighting and other current and future IoT applications.
