Ankur Mehta is the Founder & CMD of India’s leading LED brand Crescent ( Crescent Opto pvt Ltd. )
In 1975 Madhusudan Mehta started Mehta Electric Co. at Surat, as a Distributor of few big brands of Electrical Industry. Slowly he developed MEC as one of the biggest electrical products distribution house in Gujarat. His son Ankur Mehta grown with business in his DNA, But he had different ideas & vision.
Ankur Mehta entered in Lighting business on his own, parallel to his father’s legacy. In 2008, he started importing and selling LED Lights in the name of Sigma, in Gujarat and neighbouring states. Slowly he started his own manufacturing in Mumbai and then in Surat. He had a dream vision of creating his own manufacturing facility, where he could produce LED Lights, as a commodity product and at a better price than the Chinese manufacturers. Also to develop a brand, which should be user centric and “Quality with Price”.
The brand name Crescent came in existence in the year 2015. The company Crescent Opto Pvt. Ltd. was incepted in Apr’2018. Now by 2019, COPL has their four own manufacturing facilities of LED Lights at Mumbai and Surat. That includes Diecasting, Injection Molding, Drivers and four Assembly Units for final finished products. As a policy, Crescent does not make Bulbs and PC Battens. Other than this, Crescent has one of the largest product baskets, in Indian Lighting industry.
In Feb’ 2016 Mr. Shobhan Savai, one of the highly technical professionals in Electricals & Electronics Industry, Joined crescent. He started developing products after products, to cater more and more customers. The target was “Value for money” products & to set the benchmark of lowest replacement in LED industry, where replacement is the biggest issue.
Crescent is one of the most backward integrated manufacturing company in LED Lighting industry of India. Crescent is all set to launch their Commodity Product range, with a Tagline of BTC (Beat The Chinese). The idea is to provide various range of “Made in India” LED Lighting products as “Indian Quality with better than Chinese Price”.
Crescent is also ready to launch “Crescent Smart” as a new vertical by Jan’2020, where company will introduce “Lighting with Automation”. Here, one can control “Crescent Smart” products through Mobile Application.
