Ledlenser was originally started by two brothers Harald and Rainer Opolka from Solingen who didn't have much more at their disposal than an old Atari computer, a set of tools, a drawing pad and around 1,000 German marks in start-up capital. Today, Ledlenser is an international company and one of the world market leaders for portable light.

In 2000, German base Ledlenser conquered the flashlight market by equipping a flashlight with an LED instead of a light bulb. This was an was absolutely visionary concept at the time. The "Photon Pump V8" was sold millions of times worldwide and established a new era of portable light – the same was achieved by the "P7" a few years later. In 2005, two further milestones were achieved: the development and patenting of the legendary Advanced Focus System and the foundation of the company's own production plant in Yangjiang, China.

Today, Ledlenser, the LED pioneer continues to disrupt in the marketplace by advancing the technology and quality of our products and to expand the product portfolio for a wide variety of usage scenarios – for example, with explosion-proof lamps, construction spotlights, work lights, lanterns, portable power, etc. All of these efforts reinforce Ledlenser’s leadership position in the marketplace verse the competition.

At the Ledlenser headquarters in Solingen, Germany, around 100 employees leverage their knowledge, skills and experience to empower the world with the brightest, highest quality light portable lights. Behind the historic brick walls of the picturesque company headquarters are offices flooded with light, a research laboratory and spacious workshops with the latest high-tech equipment. This is where inspiration, conception, exploration and implementation take place over an area of more than 3000 m². From the Solingen headquarters, the entire company is managed and every activity around the world is guided. This is where we concentrate all our expertise, all of our light.

Our manufacturing expertise is concentrated at our company-owned site in Yangjiang, China. Here, every product is tested and manufactured from prototype to large-scale production. Our quality control checklist includes 24 items for almost all types of possible stress: endurance, extreme temperatures, water, salt, impact, pressure - it is checked and tested until the products defy all adversities and meet our high-quality standards.
