DOWA Electronics Materials Co., Ltd. was established in October 2006 as a company specializing in the electronics materials businesses, being spun off from DOWA Mining Co., Ltd. that was established as a mining and smelting company in 1884.

DOWA Electronics Materials Co., Ltd. have produced products that hold a top share of their respective world markets with the high added values and is classified divided into three major businesses; semiconductor business, electronics materials business, and advanced fine materials business.

In the semiconductor business, we have the materials unit that handles In,Ga ground metals, compound unit that handles GaAs wafers, and Opto unit that handles LEDs. In the electronics materials business, we handle silver oxide and so on, and in the advanced fine materials business, we handle magnetic materials including metal powder, carrier powder, and ferrite powder.

Our semiconductor products include high-purity gallium, gallium arsenide wafers, and LED.

The LED, which holds a substantial share in the proximity sensor and medical equipment fields, is utilized in our daily life and its substantial future growth is expected. The high-purity gallium, for which we hold the top share in the world market, is used as a raw material for the wafers and LEDs that are manufactured in-house and are also supplied to other manufacturers.

We are also promoting commercialization of gallium nitride HEMT Epiwafers that are expected to be used for next generation mobile phones, millimetre wave communications, and hybrid cars. We are also developing the ultraviolet LED, which is expected to be used in a wide range of applications including medical treatments and disinfection.

DOWA Electronics is a leading manufacturer of high-intensity/high-output red and infrared LEDs. Our LEDs are used in the fields where dramatic growth is expected in the future such as blood sensors, cutting-edge medical sensors, touch panels, proximity sensors, and infrared communication

DOWA‘s UV LED (DoUVLEDs) comprises 3 key advanced technologies: AlN template with supreme low dislocation density licensed from NGK (JP); proven epitaxial growth technology licensed from Palo Alto Research Center (US), and RIKEN (JP); and well experienced processing technology that enable Epi Wafer to perform exllence.

DOWA's Short Wave IR LED covers from 1,000nm to 1,650nm and our LED has the highest power in the world. MWIR is a wavelength that has an absorption band in many gases such as CO2 and CH4. Therefore, it is expected to be applied in air conditioning management and agriculture. DOWA has started to provide highly efficient LEDs with its own technology.
