An OLED is an organic optoelectronic device that utilizes carbonate-based small molecules (SM-OLED) or conjugated polymer chains (PLED) to form an emissive electroluminescent layer which generates photons in response to an electric current. OLED lights offer truly unique forms and design flexibility which are highly appealing for lighting designers, manufacturers and consumers.

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) lighting works by using thin organic layers that emit light when an electric current is applied. Unlike traditional LEDs that use inorganic materials, OLEDs utilize organic compounds that emit light across a surface rather than from a single point. This allows OLEDs to be thin, flexible, and capable of emitting diffuse, glare-free light. When electricity passes through the organic layers, they emit light through a process called electrophosphorescence or electrofluorescence. OLED lighting offers energy efficiency, design flexibility, and the potential for creating innovative lighting solutions in various applications including architecture, automotive, and consumer electronics.
