The CL38IR searchlight combines the trusted performance of the CL38 platform with advanced thermal imaging capabilities to deliver superior visibility during night operations. Designed for professional marine environments, this dual-function system is ideal for navigation, search-and-rescue, surveillance, and security applications. The integration of a thermal camera significantly enhances night vision, allowing users to detect and identify objects in complete darkness or through challenging weather conditions.
The thermal camera is mounted in a robust housing on an internal tilt unit, ensuring it mirrors the searchlight’s horizontal joystick-controlled movements. Although the tilt range is limited, this design enables coordinated operation between the light and camera, offering a seamless experience in dynamic marine environments. The CL38IR searchlight is part of the Luminell 3G control system, and it can be networked with SL2 and CL25/35/38 models, providing a flexible and scalable solution for vessel-wide integration.
Engineered to withstand harsh maritime conditions, the CL38IR features a durable design with minimal maintenance requirements. The body is constructed from acid-proof stainless steel (316L) and powder-coated in RAL9016 for additional resistance. A heated front window protects the thermal camera and ensures optimal performance in cold and humid environments.
The uncooled LWIR thermal imager is a FLIR Boson 640 sensor with 640x512 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It offers a 24° x 19° field of view with an 18mm fixed lens, supported by digital zoom settings of 1x, 2x, and 4x. Standard FLIR thermal palettes allow operators to adapt the visual display to different operational needs. The system supports both analog video formats (640x480 NTSC and 640x512 PAL) and digital streaming via an optional video encoder accessory.
With a maximum power draw of 2000W and input power compatibility of 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz, the CL38IR is ready for demanding marine installations. Typical detection performance includes the ability to detect a man-sized object up to approximately 820 meters away, recognize it at 210 meters, and identify it at 104 meters. For truck-sized objects, detection ranges extend to approximately 2.2 kilometers, with recognition at 580 meters and identification at 290 meters.
The CL38IR searchlight and camera system is remote-controllable, features endless pan and tilt rotation, and includes a high-performance HMI light source with adjustable beam focus. Additional system components such as Eboxes, power/signal/video cables, and control panels are required for a fully functional installation.
