MEAN WELL Launches XLN/XLC Series 25W/40W/60W Intelligent LED Power Supply


The LED lighting is a mature industry, with advancements in lumens per watt and integration of intelligent dimming applications. Various countries have also established detailed safety regulations and energy saving efficiency regulations to ensure user safety and energy saving. MEAN WELL's latest LED power supply, XLN/XLC series, provides the most complete safety certification and dimming functionalities. MEAN WELL continues to offer a range of standard LED power supplies, incorporating the latest regulations and output dimming isolation designs. The new compact XLN-25/40/60W series adopts an independent wiring output design, fully encapsulated to meet IP67 waterproof function. The XLC-25/40/60 series features a terminal-block output design, with options for independent or built-in mechanisms. Additionally, multiple current options are available, and the output current can be conveniently adjusted through DIP-Switch or NFC sensing methods. In terms of dimming functionality, various wired or wireless dimming interfaces are also provided, such as 3 in 1 / DALI-2 / KNX / Casambi / Matter (IoT), etc. The minimum brightness can be adjusted to 0.1%, making it convenient for customers to integrate with different smart control solutions. The new generation XLN and XLC series are plastic housing LED drivers of MEAN WELL, they are designed with double insulation and class II/2 for general indoor lighting or commercial luminaires. Some key features include compact size, constant voltage and constant current output, multiple dimming functions, outlet with wiring type or terminal type...etc. The series are designed with the concept of standard LED power supply and multi-purpose for customer selection, satisfying general needs of matching various lighting fixtures or LED strip applications.

The constant current output adopts a constant power mode and provides a wide range of current adjustment functions, the output current can be adjusted through the MEAN WELL APP while combing with NFC, and has 3-in-1 DALI-2 digital dimming or other wire/wireless dimming methods (KNX/ Bluetooth/ Matter); the minimum dimming level can reach <0.1%.

Complying with the latest safety regulations, the output and dimming circuits are isolated and comply with double insulation and safety voltage (SELV) designs to ensure user safety and reduce the risk of electric shock. The entire series has complete international certification and full range voltage input (Class II/2), making it convenient for customers to match all sorts of lighting in the worldwide market.

As the efficiency of LED luminous continues to improve, the lighting requires less LED power and heat sinks. Therefore, the miniaturized power supply facilitates customers to match various lighting mechanism designs while providing better product functionality and reliability.

In addition to the traditional 3 in 1 dimming (0-10V, PWM signal, resistance), the dimming method also provides the latest DALI-2 digital dimming function with the lowest brightness can reach <0.1%. Also, it can be combined with the DLC-02 DALI digital lighting control system, used in various lighting projects or commercial lighting scenes.

The full series provides a variety of output applications, including constant voltage output (12/24/48V) that can be used with LED lighting strip applications, and constant current (H type) that can be used with general lighting designs. Customers don't need to buy higher wattage, simply use it with a normal wattage that is combined with instantaneous peak power. The output voltage provided this time is 12V/24V/36V/48V models, which are commonly used in industrial equipment. The other mechanical dimensions are the same as the previous LRS series, making it convenient for customers to replace them.

The enclosed-type power supplies are used in a wide range of industrial fields, including for various electrical equipment or electronic controls. Normally, the power supply would need to provide higher startup peak power for inductive loads such as motor products or electronic controls, it would usually startup with a large current capacitive load application due to the energy storage capacitors on circuit. Therefore, MEAN WELL has developed the new LRS-100/200/350/600 N2 series, to provide customers with a power supply that has instantaneous 200% peak power consumption (duty≦35%) without increasing the wattage, also to help customers improve application problems and reduce total costs.

In addition to the UL/EN 62386-1 certification, The LRS-N2 series is also compliant with EN standards. 61558-1 OVC III design for industrial power supply. MEAN WELL's XLG series complied with the latest safety standards and isolated dimming design, covered both constant current and constant voltage applications. The series can be used with general constant current luminaires such as street light, floodlight, bay light or general 12V/24V/48V constant voltage LED strips for lighting applications. It not only conforms to the independent control gear design, provides IP67 waterproof and 3-in-1 dimming functions; it has also been added the DALI-2 digital dimming function to provide a more completed solution for intelligent system integration.

DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a protocol described in the technical standard IEC 62386 for digital control of building lighting systems. As the digital lighting evolves, the DALI Alliance (DiiA) developed the DALI-2 certification program; All of the certified DALI-2 products would be more compatible and interoperable to avoid pairing issues between various manufacturers. The newly added products that meet the DALI-2 dimming standard have included a full series of XLG-50/75/100/150/200/240/320W; provide a variety of indoor and outdoor LED lighting for DALI system integration. Also, an additional set of 12V/250mA auxiliary source output can be selected for products above 150W, which would lower the risk of being damaged by surge conduction.

The XLG series adopted constant power design that is convenient for customers to use in different output currents. In order to prevent the defective issues caused by the abnormal temperatures, MEAN WELL redefined the over-temperature protection so that the LED driver would derated to 75~50% when the temperature increased. In addition, the XLG series also provide IOVP (Input Over Voltage Protection), which would automatically shutting off the LED driver when the input voltage is higher than 320 VAC, to avoid power failure damaged by excessive AC input voltage.
