As superyacht design continues to evolve, lighting is no longer just a finishing touch - it’s a core element shaping the onboard experience. Whether enhancing aesthetics, defining ambience, or improving efficiency, precision lighting solutions are now essential.

For over four decades, UK-based lighting manufacturer LightGraphix has been pushing the boundaries of innovation in the marine space by collaborating with some of the world’s leading lighting and yacht designers. Ultimately, this attention to detail has earned the company a reputation for creating and developing high-performance fittings tailored to both interior and exterior marine environments.

Breaking new ground: The LD1093 family

The company’s latest launch, the LD1093 Family, is a testament to its dedication to design excellence and technical innovation. Comprising the LD1093Z (a trimless “zero” bezel version) and the LD1093 (with a traditional trimmed bezel), the range introduces a new benchmark for recessed marine downlights.

With over 1,000 delivered lumens, flexible beam angles, and a robust build quality, these high-output, IP67-rated fixtures contain their Integral Moisture Guard (anti-wicking barrier). Designed to stop water ingress from travelling up the cable into the product from incorrect IP-rated connections, making them the ideal solution for the challenging demands of marine environments.

“We pride ourselves on designing lighting that’s built to last—from high-grade materials to watertight fixing methods designed specifically for yachts,” says Robert Buxton, Managing Director of LightGraphix.

Available with E3 or N1 LED engines, the LD1093 Family offers colour temperatures from 2200K to 5000K. Enabling designers to create the perfect ambience and lit effect within all interior and exterior spaces throughout a vessel.

Engineered for flexibility

One of the standout features of the LD1093 Family is its versatile ease of installation across various ceiling types. From traditional front and rear access to suspended or drop-panel ceilings (as thin as 1mm), the new LD1093 Family seamlessly integrates into a multitude of marine spaces, enhancing aesthetics without compromising on functionality.

The fixtures also feature an innovative, lockable ball joint system, allowing for 360° rotation and up to 25° of tilt. Enabling adjustments and focusing to be made post-installation, with no need to remove the fixture. Hugely beneficial, especially in spaces where precision and discretion are key.

The LD1093 Family is available in various beam angles ranging from a narrow 12° to an extra-wide 65°, plus two further specifiable oval options. Additionally, enhanced glare control can be achieved via an optional honeycomb louvre. For control systems, the LD1093 Family supports Switched, 0-10V, Casambi, DMX, DALI, and Mains dimmable drivers, giving designers total mastery over light output and mood.

Sustainably manufactured in the UK

Sustainability has been a cornerstone of the LightGraphix design ethos and Product DNA long before it emerged within the superyacht industry. The company has continually sought to develop more sustainable processes and solutions across all its product lines, effectively addressing the environmental impacts associated with the manufacture and implementation of lighting systems.

"Innovating and reducing our environmental impact has always been at the core of our design philosophy," states Robert Buxton, Managing Director of LightGraphix.

Understanding the need to minimise waste, LightGraphix has developed the ‘Replacement Light Engine’ (RLE) and ‘Repair + Refurbish’ (R+R) schemes designed to extend the life cycle of its LED fittings.

"Our goal is to prevent the unnecessary disposal of products due to reasons like improper wiring or a desire to change specifications such as beam colour or angle," Robert Buxton explains.

These two systems enable the repair and upgrading of LED fittings at any stage of their life cycle, significantly reducing waste and enhancing product longevity. As a company, we are immensely proud of these initiatives and receiving a Green Rating and Platinum Award at the Build Back Better Awards in 2022 stands as a testament to our efforts and to this day remains one of the industry’s few truly circular lighting solutions, especially in marine environments.

Conclusion: Designed for tomorrow

In a world where modularity, versatility and adjustability are no longer optional but essential, the LD1093 Family shines as a true industry leader. It’s not just about brighter lights - it’s about smarter, more sustainable lighting solutions that evolve with the needs of designers and owners alike.

“Our mission is to deliver lighting that enhances every element of yacht design - from visual impact to environmental responsibility,” says Robert Buxton.

With the LD1093, LightGraphix once again proves that great lighting isn’t just about visibility - it’s about vision.

The LD53 exterior landscape accent light is designed to wash surfaces with a soft glow, highlighting specific areas of interest. With a custom LightGraphix reflector and LED array, it offers a wide, low-level, 360°, diffused wash of light from a very compact fitting. It is available in RGBW or any of our standard white colour temperatures, from cool 5000K to super warm 2200K.

An optional adjustable head is available, allowing up to 20° tilt via an innovative toolless adjustable locking mechanism, allowing quick toolless onsite adjustment. This versatile product can be used in-ground, on tabletops and on walls, allowing for a consistent lighting effect across a project and can be further enhanced through our wide range of paint finishes.

The compact range has arrived!

We are excited to share the launch of several new interior and exterior spotlights, uplights and a wall light, forming our new ‘Compact range’ and delivering between 400lm-600lm. Designed with the knowledge and expertise that we have gained from the success of our high-powered products, our new, compact sized fittings utilise the same technology, LED engines and features including repairable engines. The additions join our existing compact downlights and introduce our first track mounted fixing option (LD233) and a modularised inground uplight family (LD141).

Designers will be able to specify E3 and F1 LED engines, the same found in products like our high-power LD10238 and LD151 which belong to our Compact+ range. The Compact range will bridge the gap between our Miniature range (50lm-200lm) and Compact+ range (600lm-900lm).

With the launch of the new additions, we introduce our first track-mounted fixing option for the LD233 interior spotlight. This and the LD238 also become the first spotlights in our product range to feature glare shields and honeycomb louvres.

The LD141 family has been designed with a modular approach, all three products using the same body but for applications requiring a deep recess, an additional base elongating the lens assembly can be applied. For wall light applications an alternative bezel with glass secured from behind and no glue line is supplied, allowing for a slightly smaller aperture and more pleasing aesthetic.
