SIMES spa launches a new family of bollards at the Light + Building international fair in Frankfurt, the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building technology.

SHIFT, a family of bollards and urban elements of great elegance and aesthetic cleanliness, integrating adjustable DALI spotlights into the cylindrical shape of the poles.

Each spotlight is housed in a head that can be independently controlled and freely rotated on its axis. It can be locked in the desired position by means of a locking mechanism. The spotlights integrated into the head can be tilted horizontally to a maximum of 90º to direct the beam downwards or pushed forward to cover greater distances.

The head can also be turned upside down. This additional degree of freedom also allows the beam to be directed upwards, for example to illuminate a walkway and an adjacent wall with the same fixture.

The bollard and the urban element are available with 1 head, but they can be upgraded up to 2 additional heads. Particularly suitable for parks, squares, cycle paths and pedestrian areas, it allows 360º coverage of the area to be lit, thanks to the combined use of several heads with large beams, distributed in the desired direction.

Simes Launches SHIFT Bollard and Urban Lighting Fixtures
Where does IP System originate from? From a dream, from a vision. But above all from a deep and shared vocation and from having accepted a complex challenge, not stopping at ‘it is not possible’ and ‘you can’t’, but persevering on the way of the continuous innovation. Up to completely rewrite the rules of the game, breaking the boundary between outside and inside and overcoming preconceptions.

IP System® was the result of a visionary notion that I had for many years and that slowly began to take shape in a dream. In a way, it was a tribute to the interior lighting sector, where businesses have long offered systems, rails, on which products could be placed as you wanted, and different sorts of spot lights. And for years, I questioned not only whether it was possible, but also how a system, such as an outdoor rail, might be practical. And “no” has been the response for more than three decades.

Roberto Botti, General Manager of Simes S.p.A.

IP System® is the first IP54 linear light system for outdoor environments. The innovative plug-in electrical and mechanical connection guarantees a high protection level on all products of the system allowing you to flexibly illuminate any space that requires effects of linear diffuse light associated with accent light effects. IP System® enriches the architectural project with a new lighting expressions, with a high grade of aesthetic, together with the exclusive capability to maintain the same design language that goes from in - to - out, and vice-versa with a great flexibility.

IP System® offers diversified control, thanks to two independent and separate circuits: the first circuit illuminates the only LED strip, generating a diffuse light; the second allows us to independently power the installed accessory, so we can independently control and dim the two circuits. For getting the “right light” depends to a large extent on the ability to control. It will then possible to create different scenarios and vary them according to the applications. The intensity of the light emitted may be modulated thanks to the possibility of wiring with dimmable 24V remote power supplies.

IP System® has been patented for its special electrical connection that allows the installation of plug-in products anywhere in the system and their possible repositioning. It will be therefore possible to compose your light system by connecting to the Highlighter different plug-in luminaires with different features and functions. From adjustable with fixed optic spotlights to multi-focal optic spotlights to fixed optic downlights.

This product paves the way for countless developments, and some have already taken place, such as the introductions of both recessed and suspended options in addition to the originally planned surface mounted solution.
