The CBU-TED-LR is a Bluetooth-controlled, Casambi-enabled, long-range trailing-edge dimmer compatible with dimmable incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, LED lamps, and LED control gear. This device allows any dimmable load to be seamlessly integrated into a Casambi mesh radio network, transforming standard lighting into smart, wirelessly controllable fixtures. The versatile module can also function as a mains-activated sensor device, making it suitable for installation behind a traditional wall switch, inside luminaires, or within ceiling outlet boxes.
Control of the CBU-TED-LR is flexible and user-friendly. It can be operated through the Casambi App, available for iOS and Android devices, as well as via conventional wall switches. The Casambi App, free to download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, enables control of individual luminaires or large, full-featured intelligent lighting networks. Multiple Casambi-enabled products can be combined to form a self-healing, mesh radio network, offering both small-scale and large-scale smart lighting solutions.
The device supports a voltage input range of 85–240 VAC at frequencies of 50–60 Hz, with a maximum mains current of 0.43 A and a no-load standby power consumption below 0.3 W. Its trailing-edge phase control output can handle a maximum power of 100 W at 230 VAC, with a maximum output current of 0.43 A and a minimum load requirement of 1 W. The device can accommodate an inrush current of up to 10 A for 100 milliseconds.
Radio communication operates within frequencies of 2402–2480 MHz, with a maximum output power of +8 dBm. The communication range depends on the design of the host product and the surrounding environment. In practice, indoor coverage can reach up to 50 meters, while open-air connections may extend to 200 meters. Casambi’s mesh network technology ensures that each CBU-TED-LR unit, or any Casambi Ready product, acts as a repeater, enhancing network coverage. Long-range capabilities are available when the network is configured in long-range radio mode and all devices in the network are long-range capable. In networks set to ‘Balanced’ or ‘Better Performance’ modes, the device will revert to the standard communication range.
The CBU-TED-LR is rated for ambient temperatures from -20°C to +45°C, with a maximum case temperature of +75°C, which is located on the bottom side beneath the output connector. Storage temperatures range from -25°C to +75°C, and maximum relative humidity is 0–80% non-condensing. Solid wire connections range from 0.5 to 1.5 mm² (16–20 AWG), with a recommended wire strip length of 6–8 mm.
Mechanically, the CBU-TED-LR measures 40.4 x 36.2 x 14.0 mm and weighs 15 g, with an indoor-only IP20 protection rating. Certifications include FCC ID 2ALA3-CBUTEDLR, IC 22496-CBUTEDLR, and UL Listing 5LE6/E494741, ensuring compliance with recognized safety and performance standards.
