The CBU-DCS-LR is a Bluetooth-controlled, Casambi-enabled DALI controller with long-range capabilities, designed to integrate seamlessly into modern lighting systems. Unlike some controllers, it does not include its own power supply, instead drawing its operating power directly from a DALI bus. This approach allows it to be used with DALI drivers that have an integrated bus power supply or connected to a DALI sensor for presence detection and daylight harvesting applications. Because it relies on bus power, it is essential that the DALI bus is externally powered, and any connected sensors or drivers must include an integrated DALI bus power supply to ensure proper operation.
This controller can be fully managed using the Casambi app, available for both iOS and Android devices, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The CBU-DCS-LR can function as a single-luminaire controller for direct control setups or as part of a larger, full-featured intelligent lighting system. When deployed in larger networks, up to 250 Casambi-enabled devices can automatically form a secure wireless mesh network, providing extensive control coverage and network redundancy.
CBU-DCS-LR is designed for ease of installation and operation. It draws a standby current of 5 mA from the DALI bus, with a peak current of 30 mA, and can support a maximum DALI bus current of 250 mA. Solid conductor electrical wires ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 mm² (16–20 AWG) should be used, with the wire stripped 6–8 mm from the end for insertion into the device. The unit features two sets of connectors that are internally connected in parallel, allowing the DALI bus to be routed through the controller for convenient installation. Polarity does not matter when connecting DA1 and DA2. Buttons located on the top of the controller case facilitate secure wire insertion.
The CBU-DCS-LR should be installed in an environment free from large metal structures or metal enclosures, as metal can block the Bluetooth radio signals required for proper operation. Connectivity testing is strongly recommended on site to ensure reliable wireless communication. The unit operates on frequencies between 2402 and 2480 MHz with a maximum output power of +8 dBm.
This controller is rated for ambient operating temperatures from -20 to +55 °C, with a maximum case temperature of +65 °C and storage temperatures between -25 and +75 °C. The device tolerates up to 80% relative humidity in non-condensing conditions. Mechanically, it measures 40.4 x 36.3 x 14.0 mm, weighs 15 g, and is rated IP20 for indoor use. The casing is reinforced for insulation between the controller and the DALI bus, ensuring reliable and safe operation. The CBU-DCS-LR is CE certified, confirming compliance with European safety standards.
This compact, efficient, and fully Casambi-enabled DALI controller provides flexible options for presence detection, daylight harvesting, and networked LED driver control, making it a versatile solution for modern intelligent lighting systems.
