The MedMaster wall mount ambient/exam light is a versatile, bi-directional luminaire designed to provide both up-light ambient illumination and down-light examination lighting in a single wall-mounted fixture. Its multi-function capability allows the same luminaire to serve as general room lighting or focused examination light, supporting flexible use in patient rooms and other healthcare environments. The luminaire features a thin profile constructed from extruded 6063-T5 aluminum with die-cast aluminum end caps, combining structural strength with a clean, modern appearance. Uniform light distribution is achieved through diffused DR acrylic lenses, while high-output, high-CRI LED lamp sources ensure accurate color rendering and visual clarity for both ambient and task lighting needs.
Control options include an optional integral low-voltage controller, available with or without dimming capability, which can interface with compatible wall, bed, or pillow speaker controllers. When ordered with the night light option, the low-voltage controller also powers and manages the night light function. Accessories include a selection of low-voltage wall control switches, allowing convenient user control over the luminaire’s operation.
Electrically, the luminaire accepts 120–277VAC or 347VAC at 50/60Hz input and incorporates a serviceable constant-current driver with less than 10% total harmonic distortion and a power factor greater than 0.90. The driver achieves a minimum efficiency of 85% and includes standard 0–10V dimming with a 1–100% range and dim-to-dark capability (dim-to-dark is not available with 347V input). Optional eldoLED SOLOdrive and ECOdrive series drivers expand dimming options, including 0.1–100% range, dim-to-dark control, and DALI interface capabilities. Dual-circuit power and control wiring is also available, providing independent switching of up-light and down-light functions, while the standard configuration uses single-circuit wiring.
The luminaire housing is crafted from extruded aluminum with die-cast end caps and finished with a low-gloss, anti-microbial white TGIC polyester powder coat applied over a five-stage pre-treatment. A formed 14-gauge CRS baseplate secures the housing assembly to the mounting surface, and surface wall-mount installation is completed over a recessed junction box. Internal mounting holes accommodate hardware (provided by others), and the housing attaches to the baseplate via recessed internal hex set screws. The fixture is suitable for ambient temperatures from 0°C to 25°C, ensuring reliable operation in typical healthcare settings.
The LED module consists of a mid-power array with a minimum CRI of 82 and an R9 value greater than 20, with available color temperatures and a maximum three-step MacAdam variation allowance. Optically, diffused impact-resistant lenses guide light for both up-light and down-light functions, while isolated optical compartments prevent light bleed between the two lamping outputs.
This luminaire is certified to UL standards by Intertek Testing Laboratory for damp location installations, is dust-tight to IP6x per IEC 60598 standards, and holds an NSF2 Splash/Non-Food Zone rating, making it suitable for healthcare environments that require high sanitation and reliability.
