Robe Tarrantula LED Moving Head Wash Beam Fixture with Pixel Control and RGBW Flower Effects

Building on the legacy of the LEDWash 1200 and the advanced capabilities of the Spiider, the all-new Tarrantula is Robe’s most powerful LED beam, wash, and effects fixture to date. This next-generation luminaire incorporates Robe’s cutting-edge lens coating technology, which enhances performance by delivering bright, clear lenses with greater resistance to scratches and marks. The coating ensures higher light output while reducing the frequency of required cleaning, making the Tarrantula not only powerful but also practical for long-term use in demanding environments.

Designed for large-scale events such as concerts, automotive showcases, and sports tournaments, the Tarrantula is equipped with thirty-six 40W RGBW LED multichips and a central 60W RGBW LED chip. This powerful combination produces an impressive output of 25,200 lumens. Its optical system offers outstanding versatility with a zoom range from a narrow 4° beam to a wide 50° wash, delivering pristine light quality throughout. A beam shaper accessory, inspired by the LEDWash 800, enables a traditional oval beam shape that can be precisely indexed to fit various stage configurations. Enhancing its visual capabilities is Robe’s patented MCFE™ (Multi-Coloured Flower Effects), driven by the central 60W chip. This feature delivers crisp, rotating spikes of multicolored light, adding dramatic flair and flexibility.

The Tarrantula offers rich and saturated colors as well as delicate pastels, thanks to its high-resolution 18-bit dimming system. Smooth transitions and fine control are hallmarks of the fixture, whether it's reproducing vivid RGBW hues or subtle whites with variable CTO ranging from 2,700K to 8,000K. The virtual color wheel features 66 preprogrammed swatches, while the tungsten lamp effect emulates classic filament lighting with red shift and thermal delay for enhanced realism. Users can create captivating dynamic visuals with pixel mapping via DMX, sACN with internal HTP merging, Art-Net, MA Net, or Kling-Net protocols. Preprogrammed pixel effects and strobe sequences further expand creative options.

Precision movement is another strength of the Tarrantula. It offers 540° of pan and 220° of tilt, with high-resolution 16-bit control and Robe’s EMS™ (Electronic Motion Stabilizer), which minimizes beam deviation caused by vibration or rig movement. Speed settings are adjustable, and the fixture includes automatic pan and tilt position correction. Control is intuitive through the Robe Navigation System 2 (RNS2) and its QVGA touchscreen, which includes battery backup, auto-rotation, and an internal service log.

Thermal and electrical specifications make the Tarrantula suitable for rigorous use. It operates safely in ambient temperatures up to 45°C (113°F) and features electronic auto-ranging for global voltage compatibility from 100–240V. Maximum power consumption is 1000W, and the unit integrates Ethernet, USB, and both 3-pin and 5-pin XLR for versatile data handling. An embedded Ethernet switch ensures reliable connectivity in networked environments.

Mechanically, the fixture measures 587 mm in height, 508 mm in width, and 257 mm in depth, with a weight of 21.2 kg. It is IP20 rated for indoor use and supports both horizontal and vertical mounting via two pairs of ¼-turn locking points and Omega adaptors. A transport lock for the tilt axis and a secure safety cable attachment ensure safe handling and installation. With CE and pending cETLus compliance, the Tarrantula is engineered to meet the high standards of modern entertainment lighting professionals.
