This luminaire employs a UV wavelength range of 200nm to 230nm, with a peak emission at 222nm, classified as far-UVC. The patented short-pass filter ensures a narrow 222nm band, effectively removing longer UV wavelengths that could penetrate living tissue or the upper layers of the cornea, making the system safe for continuous operation around people when installed according to guidelines.
The UV lamp module is mercury-free and designed for long-term use, rated for 3,000 hours, roughly equivalent to five years of typical operating time. It operates on 12-minute cycles, with each cycle running between 10 and 50 seconds depending on the application’s target dose, eliminating the need for external controls or startup commissioning. When illuminated, the module emits a soft violet glow from a compact 1.75" x 2.38" opening, providing visual confirmation of operation without compromising safety.
The optical assembly features a Bounding Ray™ design with a 65° cutoff to source and source image, minimizing glare and enhancing visual comfort. Top-down flash characteristics further reduce distractions while providing a Medium Wide 1.0 S:MH distribution as standard. The surface-mounted wall cylinder installs directly to 4" recessed or surface octagonal junction boxes, and optional field-configurable conduit covers match the cylinder’s finish and diameter for aesthetic continuity. The wall mount can be oriented up or down, providing flexibility for different mounting scenarios.
Control options include compatibility with nLight® wired and nLight AIR® wireless networks, with integral power supply modules shipped as remote add-ons. The luminaire supports visible light integration with filtered far-UVC 222nm modules in hybrid or UV-only configurations. A companion visible-light-only option is also available. Electrical operation is supported from 120VAC to 277VAC at 50 or 60 Hz ±3 Hz, with support for 347V via a remote step-down transformer. Power factor exceeds 0.9%, and the UVC module requires an unswitched circuit intended for continuous operation. Single-circuit operation is recommended; wall switches are not compatible.
