The POWERdrive 50W linear LED driver family by eldoLED is a powerful and flexible constant current, four-channel driver series created for both static and dynamic color applications. Designed for precise light control and color accuracy, it delivers smooth, flicker-free dimming all the way down to 0.1%. The driver supports both DMX/RDM and DALI protocols, enabling seamless integration into professional lighting networks. Its versatile configuration makes it ideal for use in architectural, theatrical, entertainment, and commercial environments where consistent color quality and smooth fades are critical. The POWERdrive’s ability to function in standalone mode allows users to create dynamic lighting shows without the need for external controllers, expanding creative freedom across various lighting designs.
Each driver offers four fully programmable Class 2 constant current outputs, capable of being independently controlled or grouped through DMX mapping to accommodate RGBW or tunable white luminaires. Each channel can be programmed in 1mA increments via the DMX terminal or FluxTool software, supporting an output current range of 150 to 1400mA per channel and a total combined current of up to 3400mA. The driver delivers up to 50W of total power output, with a voltage range of 2 to 55V per output. This flexibility allows it to adapt to a wide range of LED modules and color-mixing configurations, making it suitable for both fixed white and full-color applications.
The input section of the POWERdrive 50W is engineered for reliability and global compatibility, accepting a universal input voltage range of 120–277VAC (UL) and 120–250VAC (ENEC), as well as 120–250VDC. Its efficiency reaches 85%, with a power factor greater than 0.95 and total harmonic distortion (THD) below 20% at full load, ensuring stable and energy-conscious operation. Surge protection is implemented with 2kV differential and common mode safeguards, while low inrush current and standby power consumption below 0.5W make it suitable for large-scale installations.
The POWERdrive’s Hybrid HydraDrive technology enables precise dimming behavior that can be fine-tuned to match the demands of different applications—from slow, smooth fades in architectural lighting to fast-response transitions required in video and entertainment environments. It offers multiple dimming curve options, including logarithmic, linear, soft-linear, and square, ensuring tailored performance that suits the visual intent of any lighting designer. The result is a consistent, flicker-safe output with exceptional color rendering and precision control at every brightness level, down to complete darkness.
Engineered for resilience, the POWERdrive incorporates automatic thermal management to protect both the driver and connected LEDs. When internal temperatures rise above factory thresholds, the driver reduces output current to prevent overheating and automatically restores normal output once temperatures stabilize. In extreme thermal conditions, it will shut down to prevent damage. Short-circuit and open-circuit protection mechanisms are built-in; the driver attempts automatic restarts every 400 milliseconds until normal operation resumes. In overload conditions, the total output current is scaled down sequentially across all channels to maintain operation within the maximum rated power.
Additional safeguards include reverse polarity protection, preventing damage to the driver in case of incorrect wiring. An external NTC thermistor can also be connected via LEDcode/NTC terminals, allowing real-time thermal feedback from the LED board. When the NTC detects temperatures above the configured limit—typically 70°C by default—the driver reduces LED output by 75% to protect system components.
As a DMX/RDM-compatible full-color LED driver, POWERdrive offers isolated control interfaces to ensure signal integrity across complex installations. It provides exceptional immunity to surge events, robust resistance to miswiring, and long-term reliability even in demanding environments. Its universal voltage compatibility, smooth dimming control, and robust thermal and electrical protections make the POWERdrive 50W linear family a versatile choice for professional-grade lighting systems across architectural, entertainment, and broadcast applications where precision and color fidelity are paramount.
