To anticipate on the trend of hidden lighting and to prepare for new European building regulations (EPBD)* and European cybersecurity regulations (CRA)**, eldoLED is introducing a new range of ECOdrive LED drivers, designed for the European market. As a leader in the design and engineering of state-of-the-art LED driver technology, eldoLED has an established tradition of creating lighting solutions that deliver Quality of Light for luminaires, elevate modern aesthetics, enhance comfort and reduce energy consumption. eldoLED builds on that tradition with the development of the new Nano family of ECOdrive LED drivers.

The Nano family of 12W LED drivers offer programmable, digital solutions in an exceptionally small size capable of insertion within 35mm apertures for today’s miniaturized downlights, spotlights, and pendant lighting designs. The Nano family from eldoLED provides cost-effective energy saving options that are compatible with analog and digital dimming protocols down to 1% as well as Casambi-enabled options for wireless control. With the Nano family of small form factor drivers, applications such as hospitality, retail, or residential can easily achieve “quiet” ceilings without sacrificing true Quality of Light and control within the illuminated space.

All Nano drivers are fully programmable with a new cloud-native programming tool, called eldoLED STUDIO, with advanced cybersecurity and full traceability.

Geert van der Meer, Product Marketing and Engineering Director Europe at eldoLED, says “We are excited to provide the next step in LED driver miniaturization with the ECOdrive Nano drivers. It is the smallest LED driver in its voltage range and is a perfect example of how eldoLED is continuing our heritage of creating quality designs that support our vision of Quality of Light and reduce energy consumption by enabling easy sensor integration in line with EPBD requirements.”

The ECOdrive Nano driver family is exclusively designed for Europe and scheduled for release in the summer of 2024.

* EPBD: Objective of the European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) is to improve energy performance of buildings within the European Union. Targets include emission reduction of over 60% in the building sector by 2023 (vs 2015) and to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.

** CRA: The European Cyber Resilience Act is a legal framework that describes cybersecurity requirements for hardware and software products with digital elements that are intended for the EU market. It becomes effective in Q2 2024 with a 3-year implementation timeline. eldoLED LED drivers fall into the Class II product category; requirements for these types of products include a secure design, development and product process (risk assessment).

Meet our new 20W Compact (CA) Family of Drivers for European downlights! 10mm smaller than mainstream drivers. This form factor accommodates drivers that have an optimized design for ceiling openings with a diameter of 45mm.

Available with multiple dimming options: ECOdrive for professional dimming to 1%, SOLOdrive and DUALdrive for specifier dimming to 0.1% and Tunable White. Control options: DALI DT6 and DT8, 0-10V and Pulse dimming.

The introduction of the Compact (CA) driver family effects 1-channel drivers of the 20W/MA family as follows:
  • The 20W/MA 1-channel drivers already comply with the new CA form factor design and their part numbers will therefore be renamed to CA to reflect their new CA form factor. All future orders of the 20W/MA 1-channel drivers will therefore be migrated to the 20W/CA 1-channel drivers.
  • To streamline the product line and address low demands, the EC20MA-E1Z0Z and the SL20MA-E1Z0Z drivers will be discontinued. An alternative product is provided.
