Martin VC-Grid 30: Pixel Mapping LED Matrix Tile with DMX and P3 Control Integration for Creative Video Displays

The VC-Grid 30 is a compact 240 x 240 mm LED video module with a 30 mm pixel pitch, offering high artistic flexibility for creative LED video solutions. Its small form factor makes it particularly well-suited for seamless integration into stage designs, scenic elements, architectural ceilings, and other imaginative installations. Designed for maximum versatility with minimal effort, the VC-Grid can be used with or without a front diffuser and allows multiple units to be combined in countless configurations for complete design freedom. A single combined power and data cable streamlines setup, enabling daisy-chaining of multiple modules for efficient installation and reduced cabling.

Engineered for precision and performance, the VC-Grid 30 delivers 2750 nits of brightness and a luminous output of 8250 lumens per square meter, with 64 individually controllable pixels. The module features high-quality 16-bit per color image processing and pixel-level calibration, ensuring accurate color and brightness matching across fixtures. Control is highly adaptable, supporting both DMX and Martin’s P3 System with automatic protocol detection and real-time toggling between DMX, PixelMapping, and VideoMapping via a P3 Switch channel. It offers intuitive mapping and addressing through the P3 System Controller and is compatible with custom designs upon request, including alternate pixel pitches and module dimensions.

The VC-Grid 30 offers a wide range of control options. It supports 16-bit control resolution via P3 and 8-bit via DMX, with settings configurable through the Martin P3 System Controller or any RDM-compliant controller. It complies with USITT DMX512-A and ANSI/ESTA E1.20 standards for RDM, and firmware updates are handled through the P3 controller. Various DMX control modes are available, including direct module and pixel control, and P3-integrated modes such as P3 Intensity, P3 RGB, P3 Basic, P3 Hybrid, and P3 PixelMap, with channel counts ranging from 1 to 195.

P3 video processing capabilities include brightness control, gamma correction, color temperature and space control, calibration processing, and synchronization. The unit features a user interface with multi-color visual indicators and a pushbutton for device testing and resetting. With tight color and flux binning and Full Gamut Pixel Calibration, the VC-Grid ensures consistent, vibrant image quality. The optics deliver a wide 120° x 120° viewing angle, while the LED array operates reliably with a minimum lifespan of 50,000 hours.

Constructed with a black FR4 circuit board, the VC-Grid 30 allows for 44% transparency through its unmasked area. Electrical connectivity is handled via 4-pin Molex connectors for both input and thru connections. Operating at a nominal 48 VDC (+/- 4%), the module is compatible with Martin P3 PowerPort 1500, DMX PowerPort 375, Martin IP66 PSU 240W, or generic 48 VDC power supplies. The maximum power consumption is 25 W when all LEDs are at full intensity.

Physically, the VC-Grid 30 measures 240 mm x 240 mm x 15 mm (excluding a 20 mm board-to-board gap) and weighs only 157 grams. It is fully compatible with Martin’s VC-Strip 30 and supported by integrated processors like the P3 PowerPort 1500 or DMX PowerPort 375, offering a streamlined cabling and setup system ideal for both fixed and dynamic installations.
