Martin ERA 800 Performance 800W CMY LED Profile with Framing, CMY Color Mixing, and CTO Control

The Martin ERA 800 Performance is engineered to meet the demand for an ultra-bright, compact, and road-ready moving head lighting fixture. Purpose-built for entertainment and rental applications, it delivers a rich feature set and rugged design in a cost-efficient profile. At its core is a highly efficient 800W white LED engine, which produces an incredibly bright and sharp 6,500K gobo projection with a clean, flat field. This makes it especially suitable for large-scale stage and live productions that require power, clarity, and performance.

With a 1:8 zoom, electronic dimming and strobe, full CMY color mixing, and a separate color wheel, the ERA 800 Performance is highly versatile. It also includes variable color temperature control, an animation wheel, and an iris for precision beam shaping. The fixture boasts both fixed and rotating gobo wheels, preloaded with user-favorite gobos from the renowned Martin MAC range, providing a broad palette of visual effects. Designers can enhance these effects using the two rotating prisms (4-facet and linear) and the included soft and heavy frost filters, making this fixture adaptable to virtually any lighting scenario.

One of the standout features of the ERA 800 Performance is its full curtain framing system. Each of the four blades can cross the full beam independently to achieve a complete blackout. The entire framing module rotates up to 120°, enabling highly accurate image projection and beam shaping. When fully focused, designers can use this system to frame gobos with a soft edge, providing exceptional flexibility and control over on-stage visuals.

Physically, the fixture is compact and lightweight for its power class, weighing 41 kg (90.4 lbs.) and designed for flexible installation. It includes multiple mounting points and is rated for dry locations. Its optical system features a fat beam look through a 160 mm front lens, producing a crisp, flat field at up to 35,000 lumens of fixture output. The zoom range spans from 7° to 56°, while the electronic dimming system offers four dimming curve options for smooth transitions. Additional dynamic effects include rotating and static gobo wheels, bi-directional animation wheel, two prisms, and variable CTO from 6500K to 2700K.

From a control standpoint, the fixture supports DMX and RDM protocols, with a control panel that includes a backlit LCD display. It offers 16-bit control over key functions like dimming, color mixing, zoom, pan, and tilt. The fixture features 42 DMX channels and operates with an opto-isolated RS-485 transceiver for signal reliability in complex systems.

Photometrically, the ERA 800 Performance delivers 70,000 lumens of engine output and 35,000 lumens as a fixture standard. With an optional CRI boost filter, it delivers 25,000 lumens but significantly improves color rendering, achieving a CRI of >79 and TM-30 fidelity index of >77. This makes it well-suited for broadcast and other applications where accurate color reproduction is critical.

Constructed from high-impact flame-retardant thermoplastic, the fixture carries an IP20 rating and is finished in black. Its gobos are made of durable Borofloat 33 glass with a heavy matted aluminum coating. Installation is straightforward with omega bracket mounting points and flexible orientation options. The fixture must be installed in dry locations with a minimum distance to combustibles and illuminated surfaces.

For connectivity, it offers 5-pin locking XLR connectors for DMX and RDM data in/out and Neutrik TRUE1 sockets for power input and throughput. It operates on a wide range of voltages (100-240V AC, 50/60Hz) with an auto-ranging switch mode power supply. Power consumption peaks at 1397W, with a typical draw of 1270W and only 64W at idle.

Thermally, the ERA 800 Performance uses temperature-regulated forced-air cooling designed for low noise. It operates reliably in ambient temperatures ranging from 0° to 40°C and has a calculated heat dissipation of 4340 BTU/hr at full output. All of these capabilities come together in a compact powerhouse that’s ideal for touring productions, large events, and high-demand environments where brightness, flexibility, and reliability are paramount.
