The OOOOH RING surface mount ceiling light reinvents the timeless classic ring shape with a cutting-edge louver design. This innovative array of incurved ellipses adds a subtle aesthetic appeal while creating a sublime lighting effect. The louver system softens the harshness commonly associated with exposed diffusers, adding a captivating decorative element that also enhances visual comfort by reducing glare. The injection-molded louvers are available in five finishes to suit various needs: Black offers the highest glare control, White provides increased reflectance and performance, and the satinized finishes of Satin Chrome, Satin Gold, and Satin Champagne serve as sophisticated interior design accents.
Constructed from aluminum, the fixture is finished with a durable powder coat. Mechanically, the luminaires mount directly over a junction box (supplied by others). The diffuser is made of opal polycarbonate, ensuring a soft, even light distribution. For safety and compliance, a remote emergency lighting option is available, offering 1.5 hours of emergency illumination (3 hours for EU). This system includes an inverter module, NiCad batteries, and a remote wall or ceiling-mounted LED charge indicator and test switch (available only in North America). The maximum distance between the wall or ceiling plate and the luminaire is 15 feet (4.5 meters), with the test switch designed to fit a single gang box (not supplied).
The fixture uses high power factor (HPF) electronic drivers compatible with 120-277V and 347V (EU-240V) dimming. Drivers may be remote mounted or integrated into the canopy depending on the size of the fixture. Wiring distances vary by wire gauge, with 18 AWG supporting up to 40 feet (12.2 meters), 16 AWG up to 60 feet (18.3 meters), and 14 AWG up to 90 feet (27.4 meters). Drivers must remain accessible after installation for maintenance.
The OOOOH RING features acoustic panels made of 100% recycled polyester fiber, with a thickness of 12 mm (0.5 inches) and a fire rating of ASTM E84-2018 Class A. Delivered lumens and lumens per watt (LPW) are based on a 4000K color temperature with a minimum CRI of 80+. The fixture offers excellent longevity, with a reported L70 of over 102,000 hours at 25°C (77°F) for 900 lumens per foot (3000 lumens per meter), and an estimated L70 exceeding 178,000 hours under the same conditions.
Sensor compatibility is available upon consultation with the factory, and the fixture carries a damp rating, making it suitable for a variety of indoor environments where moisture may be present.
