Katona is a versatile and highly efficient wall luminaire designed to meet the complex demands of educational, public, and outdoor spaces. Combining market-leading efficiency with robust construction, Katona provides reliable protection against water, dust, and impact damage, making it an ideal lighting solution for a wide range of applications. Its design focuses on solving multiple lighting challenges with a single, adaptable product.
Educational environments, such as schools and campuses, present unique lighting challenges that require consistent illumination across a variety of spaces—from bicycle storage sheds, staircases, hallways, dormitories, and cafeterias, to outdoor areas. Katona is engineered to address these demands with a combination of features that enhance both safety and performance. The luminaire incorporates a rotatable LED board that remains linked to the unit during installation, ensuring quick and easy mounting to walls or ceilings. Its diffuse light distribution eliminates visible LED dots while delivering high efficiency up to 120 lm/W.
Durability is a core feature of Katona, with an IP65 rating for protection against dust and water, and an IK10 impact rating capable of withstanding impacts of up to 20 joules. This makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, including high-traffic public areas such as corridors, stairwells, underpasses, terraces, and balconies. The slim design, with a height of only 58mm, is ideal for rooms with low ceilings, while round (Ø307mm) and square (277x277mm) versions offer flexibility to match different architectural requirements. Katona delivers 100 lx on the floor at a spacing of 4 meters between luminaires, in compliance with EN12464, and is available in warm white (3000K) and cool white (4000K) with CRI 80.
Katona also provides advanced control and energy-saving options. It supports wired and wireless systems, including DALI, basicDIM, Bluetooth, microwave sensors, mobile app controls, and corridor functions with presence detection and daylight harvesting. Emergency versions feature state-of-the-art lithium iron phosphate batteries, offering three hours of operation with manual (E3) and self-test (E3D) modes, along with a three-year warranty. A central battery-compatible option is also available for larger installations.
The luminaire’s clean and smooth polycarbonate body, combined with a white diffuse polycarbonate diffuser and zinc-plated steel screws, ensures durability and easy maintenance. The screwless, silicone-free design reduces dirt accumulation and supports hygiene requirements in public and educational environments. Accessories such as a security bezel provide additional protection for sensitive areas, while loop-in, loop-out cabling and BESA compatibility simplify installation for contractors.
Katona is available in three luminous flux levels—1000 lm, 1400 lm, and 2000 lm—offering flexibility to meet the specific lighting requirements of various spaces. The luminaire is rated for ambient temperatures from -15°C to +35°C, with emergency versions suitable for 0°C to 25°C. Its lifetime of 50,000 hours at L80 ensures long-term performance, while anti-tamper screws and optional security features provide peace of mind for high-risk areas. With its combination of efficiency, durability, and adaptability, Katona is the ultimate problem solver for lighting applications across educational, public, and outdoor environments.
