The surface mount emergency light is engineered for reliable wall or ceiling installation, providing consistent and robust emergency performance across a variety of indoor and semi-exposed environments. Designed as a self-contained emergency solution, the fixture incorporates high-capacity battery options to ensure long-duration operation during power interruptions. Its self-diagnostic testing features enable continuous monitoring of the battery and electrical components, alerting facility managers to potential maintenance needs before they become critical. Constructed from high-impact injection-molded polycarbonate, the housing offers superior durability and resistance to impact, making it suitable for high-traffic areas and demanding institutional or recreational settings.
This emergency light is ideal for a wide range of applications, including parks and recreation facilities, packaging and staging areas, correctional dayrooms, multifamily housing, cafeterias, restrooms, stairwells, corridors, exteriors and entryways, gymnasiums, multipurpose rooms, indoor recreational correctional spaces, natatoriums, and general emergency egress situations. Its versatile design ensures dependable performance across both public and institutional environments that require reliable emergency lighting and compliance with safety codes.
The electrical components are mounted on a removable chassis for ease of maintenance. The fixture includes a sealed nickel-cadmium Emergency Battery Pack with standard deep-cycle conditioning, self-test and self-diagnostic circuitry, remote laser-activated test switch, protected mechanical test switch, and status indicator. The battery is rated for operation in ambient temperatures from 10°C to 45°C (50°F to 113°F), while a Cold Weather Emergency Battery Pack (CEL) option supports operation from -30°C to 45°C (-22°F to 113°F). Additionally, the emergency light is Remote Exit Ready, capable of powering one or two Kenall METSS Satellite Exit signs for integrated emergency egress solutions.
The high-impact polycarbonate housing is equipped with four-point mounting holes, a wireway hole, and temporary junction box drill points for flexible installation. A closed-cell die-cut neoprene gasket seals the housing to the mounting surface, providing protection against moisture and environmental exposure. Standard four-point mounting is required to maintain the Peace of Mind Guarantee®, with optional drill points provided for surface conduit entry.
The fixture is certified by UL and CUL for Wet Location installations and is UL certified IP64 per IEC 60598. It meets or exceeds UL924 and NFPA 101 standards, as well as CSA and NRCAN requirements. Additionally, the luminaire has been tested to an IK10 impact protection rating in accordance with IEC 60068-2-75:1997-08, ensuring robust protection against mechanical impact. The fixture includes a UV-stabilized, high-impact clear polycarbonate shield, nominally 0.120 inches thick, secured with captive stainless steel Torx® fasteners with center pins. A continuous closed-cell silicone gasket seals the shield to the housing, completing the protective, tamper-resistant design.
This surface mount emergency light combines durability, compliance, and intelligent self-monitoring features, making it a reliable solution for both public and institutional spaces where consistent emergency performance is essential.
