The HL-GEN4 MONO is the fourth-generation monochromatic modular LED lighting system in GVA Lighting’s acclaimed Highlighter® Series. Designed for both direct view and accent architectural lighting, HL-GEN4-MONO leverages the award-winning COLOR-STREAM® platform to deliver superior performance, including communication speeds up to 16 times faster than traditional DMX and exceptionally smooth dimming. At the core of the system is GVA’s proprietary INFINITY® technology, enabling an impressive scalability of up to 2,280 modules in a single circuit—equivalent to 684 meters or 2,244 feet—providing unmatched flexibility for large-scale installations.
This versatile lighting solution supports a wide range of pixel resolutions—75 mm, 150 mm, and 300 mm—offering granular control over lighting effects. It features up to 16 monochromatic LEDs per 300 mm (1 ft) module, and 8 LEDs per 150 mm (0.5 ft) module, producing luminous outputs up to 1,670 lm/m or 501 lm/ft. Color options include four monochromatic colors and eight white CCTs ranging from 2200K to 6500K, with 90 CRI available in select variants such as 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K, 5700K, and 6500K. The LED pitch is carefully maintained across luminaires to eliminate dark spots and ensure visual continuity.
With a projected L70 B50 lifetime of 115,000 hours at 23°C, HL-GEN4 MONO ensures long-term reliability even in demanding environments. The fixture offers a range of optical distributions including 20°, 30°, 60°, and 120°, and emits a cool beam free of infrared or UV radiation, enhancing both safety and performance. Modules are offered in lengths from 150 mm to 1200 mm (0.5 to 4 feet) and support various power configurations, including 2 W, 2.5 W, 3 W, and 5 W per 300 mm.
Control flexibility is a hallmark of the system. HL-GEN4 MONO is compatible with Art-Net 4, sACN, DMX-512A, DALI / DALI 2, and 0–10V protocols via GVA’s PDC-GEN5 Power-Data Converter. Its 12-bit dimming resolution enables 4,096 micro-steps for seamless brightness transitions. The dimming frequency of up to 40 kHz ensures flicker-free operation for both the human eye and high-speed cameras. The system allows dimming from 100% down to 0.02%, with flicker-free performance from 100% to 0.2%, and remains completely silent throughout the entire dimming range. The exponential dimming curve is finely tuned to align with human perception of brightness changes.
Designed for harsh conditions, the HL-GEN4 MONO carries an IP66 rating and is engineered to operate in temperatures from -40°C to +50°C (-40°F to +122°F). It is suitable for dry, damp, or wet locations with 0–100% humidity. The system is also tested to ANSI C136.31-2018 standards for vibration resistance, making it ideal for use on bridges and overpasses (Test Level 2, 3G or 29.4m/s²). Modules connect via sealed push-lock connectors for through-wiring of power and data, and the system supports leader or jumper cables up to 100 meters (328 feet) in length.
To accommodate various design requirements, HL-GEN4 MONO modules are available in black or white body finishes, and the system can be field-calibrated for different power outputs without compromising dimming precision. This makes HL-GEN4 MONO an exceptionally robust and adaptable solution for modern architectural lighting, from linear accents to high-resolution media facades.
