Ideal for small and medium-sized interiors, this high-efficiency fixture is designed to enhance a variety of commercial environments, including private and open-plan offices, retail outlets, public spaces, and airports. It makes a strong linear design statement whether installed in low or high-ceiling applications.
At the core of SLIM Wall is Axis Lighting’s patented SurroundLite™ indirect optics, an innovative lightguide technology that leverages advanced physics to create a wide, multidimensional batwing light distribution. Unlike typical Lambertian light patterns, SurroundLite delivers soft, uniform illumination across all planes—ceiling, walls, and corners—mimicking the quality of natural daylight. This leads to reduced ceiling contrast, improved vertical surface lighting, and enhanced visual comfort. The technology also enables fewer luminaires to be used without compromising light coverage, thereby improving energy efficiency and reducing installation complexity.
SLIM’s precision-engineered optics are designed to mitigate glare using a regressed lens and optional louvers or VL optics, which lower luminance across the light-emitting surface. This technology not only eliminates streaks and hotspots but also reduces the "cave effect" and increases perceived brightness by effectively lighting up corners and vertical planes. As a result, spaces feel more open and vibrant. Additionally, the broad light distribution enhances facial modeling and recognition, providing soft fill light to vertical planes from reflected surfaces within the space.
Every element of the luminaire’s construction is optimized for quality and longevity. The housing is made from extruded aluminum, with die-cast aluminum end caps and joiners, while interior brackets are formed from zintec steel. Top covers are fabricated from cold rolled, painted sheet steel. Optical components include a precision-formed PMMA lightguide with a microconical structure offering 92% light transmission while cutting off glare above 55 degrees, a smooth frosted acrylic lens, and optional flat blade louvers made of semi-specular anodized aluminum for added visual comfort.
SLIM supports a wide range of advanced control systems. Driver options include Lutron’s Hi-lume 1% EcoSystem with Soft-on, Fade-to-Black (LDE1), DALI (Types 6 and 8), DMX, Xitanium SR for wireless sensor integration, and tunable white control via DPTW, LDTW, and other protocols. Power-over-Ethernet compatibility is available with drivers from Molex, Igor, and Smartengine. The fixture is UL2108 certified for use with both integral and remote drivers. Emergency options include an integral battery pack or emergency circuit.
Offering exceptional color quality, SLIM provides a minimum CRI of 80 or 90 and a choice of fixed color temperatures—2700K, 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K—with high color consistency within a 3-step MacAdam ellipse. For more dynamic applications, Axitune systems are available for tunable white performance. The LED modules offer a minimum rated life of 50,000 hours at 85% lumen maintenance (measured per IES LM-80) and are field-replaceable and upgradable using tool-free quick connectors—ensuring the system is future-proof and designed for long-term use.
Thermal performance is optimized through the aluminum housing, which doubles as a heat sink to extend the fixture’s lifespan. Rated for dry and damp indoor environments, SLIM is suitable for ambient operating temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F). System runs exceeding 12 feet are designated with system numbers (S#) and are assembled from 4-foot and 8-foot segments using Axis’s joiner system.
