Dimmable LED Emergency Driver for Self-Contained LED Modules with DALI Interface and Automatic Self-Test Function

This independent dimmable LED driver is a versatile emergency lighting solution with integrated DALI interface and automatic test functionality for self-contained emergency lighting systems. It operates with LED modules having a forward voltage of 20–50 V and features SELV-compliant outputs below 60 V DC, ensuring safe operation. The driver is housed in a compact plastic casing with strain relief, providing durability and reliable installation in ceiling or wall-mounted luminaires. It supports constant current LED operation, with output currents ranging from 300 to 1,400 mA during mains operation. Current adjustment is possible via the I-SELECT 2 PLUG in steps of 25 mA or through DALI in steps of 1 mA, allowing precise control over LED performance.

The integrated emergency lighting unit supports rated operation durations of one, two, or three hours, with operating time selectable via a two-way dip switch. The driver includes automatic shutdown of output if the LED forward voltage exceeds the operational range and features a two-color status display LED for rapid visual monitoring. The internal electronic multi-level charge system enables pulse current charging for NiMH batteries, while deep discharge protection, polarity reversal protection, and short-circuit-proof battery connections safeguard battery health. Additional protective features include overtemperature, short-circuit, overload, no-load, input voltage range, and reduced surge amplification protections, along with power-up fading at AC to prevent stress on LED modules.

The driver supports multiple interfaces through the one4all system, including DALI DT 1 & 6, DSI, switchDIM, and corridorFUNCTION, and utilizes 45° push terminal blocks for secure wiring. Compatible batteries include high-temperature NiCd or NiMH cells in D, Cs, LA, or LAL formats, and the battery box allows independent use, making the system flexible for various emergency lighting installations.

Electrical specifications include a rated supply voltage of 220–240 V AC with a frequency of 50/60 Hz, overvoltage protection up to 320 V for 48 hours, and leakage current below 0.5 mA. The driver achieves a typical power factor of 0.95 at 230 V and maintains a total harmonic distortion below 10% during normal operation. The starting time in an emergency is under 0.5 seconds, with output current tolerance of ±7% and low-frequency current ripple under 2%. The maximum open-circuit voltage is 60 V, and the mains voltage changeover threshold follows EN 60598-2-22 standards.

The driver supports ambient temperatures from –5 °C to 50 °C for output powers ≤40 W and –5 °C to 45 °C for output powers above 40 W, with a maximum casing temperature of 75 °C. It is rated IP20 for protection, offers a long operational lifetime of up to 50,000 hours, and is backed by a five-year guarantee. This combination of advanced battery management, multiple protective features, DALI control, and selectable emergency durations makes the driver ideal for offices, retail, healthcare, and public building installations requiring reliable, low-maintenance emergency lighting.
