The Salvador Series 3000 DALI controllers are a versatile solution for integrating wired DALI luminaires into Casambi wireless networks. Currently, the series includes a single model capable of controlling up to 16 DALI drivers, enabling smaller-scale installations or renovation projects to take full advantage of Casambi’s intuitive control capabilities. These controllers are designed to allow wired DALI luminaires to appear as virtual luminaires within a Casambi network, providing seamless integration alongside Casambi Ready devices. The controllers support widely adopted industry standards, including DALI D4i, DALI DT6, and DALI DT8, ensuring compatibility with a broad range of lighting installations. Each device is equipped with an integrated 32 mA bus power supply to support DALI operation, which provides reliable bus voltage and current for connected drivers while eliminating the need for additional external power sources. It is important to note that DALI controls such as switches, sensors, or other input devices should not be connected to the Salvador Series 3000 controllers.
In a Casambi network, each Salvador Series 3000 unit functions as a single Casambi node, and each addressed wired DALI driver also represents an individual node. A Casambi network can accommodate up to 250 nodes in total, combining both wired DALI drivers and Casambi Ready devices. Wired DALI luminaires appear in the Casambi App in the same way as Casambi Ready luminaires, enabling flexible control. Users can manage individual luminaires, create groups, or incorporate devices into scenes that combine both Casambi Ready and wired DALI luminaires, offering complete customization of lighting scenarios directly from the Casambi App, which is available free for iOS and Android devices.
The Salvador Series 3000 operates with an input voltage range of 120–277 VAC at 50/60 Hz, drawing a mains current of 45 mA and consuming less than 0.5 W of standby power when idle. The DALI output provides a voltage range of 12–15 VDC, with a guaranteed current of 32 mA and a maximum output current of 250 mA, compliant with IEC 62386-101 standards. Wireless communication is achieved through a radio transceiver operating at 2.402–2.480 GHz, with a maximum output power of +8 dBm. Wiring requirements specify AWG 16 for mains and AWG 22 for the DALI bus, and the device casing provides reinforced insulation to ensure safety and reliability. Mechanically, the controller measures 55.0 x 49.4 mm (64.2 mm with the threaded nipple) by 27.0 mm in depth, weighs 3 oz (85 g), and features IP20 protection for indoor applications only, with a Class 2 protection rating.
The Salvador Series 3000 is capable of operating in ambient temperatures from -20°C to +45°C, with a maximum case temperature of 70°C and storage temperatures ranging from -25°C to +70°C. The maximum relative humidity is 80% non-condensing. The communication range can vary depending on product design and environment, with well-designed units achieving indoor coverage up to 50 meters (200 feet) and, theoretically, up to 200 meters (650 feet) in open-air conditions. Casambi mesh network technology allows each unit to act as a repeater, extending range and ensuring reliable network communication.
The Salvador Series 3000 enables the addressing, programming, and control of connected DALI drivers individually through the Casambi App, creating hybrid networks that integrate both Casambi Ready devices and wired DALI luminaires. All DALI drivers connected to the controller can be programmed and controlled in the same intuitive way as Casambi Ready devices, eliminating the need for specialized DALI controllers, complex configuration software, or a DALI specialist. When connecting devices, the integrated 32 mA DALI bus power supply must be used exclusively; external power supplies must not be connected to the same bus. For DALI drivers with integrated bus power, such as D4i LED drivers, the internal power must be disabled before connection. This makes the Salvador Series 3000 particularly suitable for low-budget renovations or projects that replace multiple standalone DALI networks while providing full flexibility, safety, and reliable integration into modern Casambi lighting systems.
