The Salvador Series 1000 DALI controller product family consists of three models, each suited for different network sizes and project requirements. The smallest model addresses up to 16 DALI driver addresses, the mid-range model supports up to 32 drivers, and the largest model accommodates the maximum allowed 64 DALI drivers. These controllers integrate wired DALI drivers into the Casambi wireless system, enabling DALI luminaires to appear as virtual luminaires within the Casambi network. The series supports key industry standards including DALI D4i, DALI DT6, and DALI DT8, ensuring compatibility across a wide range of lighting installations. It is important to note that DALI switches and sensors must not be connected to the Salvador Series 1000 controllers, although Casambi Ready and EnOcean switches and sensors can be used to extend network control. Unlike other Salvador series, these controllers require an external power supply to operate the DALI bus.
The Salvador Series 1000 controllers allow addressing, programming, and control of wired DALI drivers individually through the Casambi App, enabling the creation of hybrid networks that combine both Casambi Ready and wired DALI devices. All connected DALI drivers can be programmed and controlled in the same intuitive way as Casambi Ready devices via the app, eliminating the need for complex DALI configuration software or specialized DALI expertise. This makes the controllers particularly useful for projects where simplified network setup and hybrid control are required.
Within a Casambi network, each Salvador controller functions as a single Casambi node, and each addressed wired DALI driver also represents an individual node. Casambi networks can include up to 250 nodes, regardless of whether they are wired DALI drivers or Casambi Ready devices, providing flexible and scalable network architecture. Wired DALI luminaires appear in the Casambi App in the same manner as Casambi Ready devices, allowing for individual control, grouping, or inclusion in scenes that combine both device types, ensuring seamless integration and consistent operation across the network.
Electrically, the Salvador Series 1000 controllers operate within an input voltage range of 9.5–22.5 VDC, with an idle current of 5 mA and a peak input current of 30 mA. The maximum DALI bus current is 250 mA, and standby power consumption is below 0.2 W. The series includes variants that support 16, 32, or 64 DALI driver addresses depending on the model. Wireless communication is enabled through a radio transceiver operating at 2402–2480 MHz with a maximum output power of +8 dBm. The controllers function in ambient temperatures ranging from -20 °C to +55 °C, with a maximum case temperature of 65 °C and storage temperatures from -25 °C to +75 °C. Maximum relative humidity is 80%, non-condensing.
Mechanically, the Salvador Series 1000 controllers are compact, measuring 40.4 x 36.3 x 14.0 mm and weighing only 15 g. They are rated IP20 for indoor use, with reinforced insulation between the casing and the DALI circuits. Connectors accommodate solid wires ranging from 0.5–1.5 mm² (16–20 AWG) with a wire strip length of 6–8 mm. The series holds CE certification, ensuring compliance with international safety and performance standards. Collectively, these features make the Salvador Series 1000 a compact, reliable, and fully controllable solution for integrating wired DALI drivers into Casambi wireless networks, supporting both small and mid-scale hybrid lighting installations.
