The MedMaster Saturn 14" and 18" diameter surface mount LED disk light is a versatile and robust lighting solution suitable for healthcare applications such as patient rooms and behavioral health spaces. This fixture incorporates both center and perimeter light engines with independent control, enabling a range of lighting options. The center light engine utilizes a static white LED, while the perimeter light engine can include static white, static color, RGB, or a switchable combination of white and color, providing dynamic and customizable lighting for healthcare environments. The unit is available in 14" or 18" nominal diameters with a 2" overall depth and is suitable for surface wall or ceiling installation. Its IK10 impact rating and Peace of Mind Guarantee® ensure durability and resistance to breakage, while its NSF2 certification supports cleanability in clinical settings.
The 18" model includes an optional embedded microwave motion sensor mounted behind the center diffuser, which provides 360° coverage and operates at 5.8 GHz continuous-wave radar. The factory default setting dims the light to 30% with a 20-minute timeout, though custom settings can be specified. For switchable perimeter lamping, the internal Kenall device allows the fixture to toggle between white and colored outputs based on voltage input, ensuring white light during occupancy and a pre-selected color during unoccupied periods for night light functionality. Electrical configurations include 120-277VAC input with serviceable, high-power factor, constant-current drivers, and optional 347VAC DIM1 drivers. Dimming options include standard 0-10V dimming, DALI-2 DT6, and DMX-RDM compatibility, with independent control of the center and perimeter light engines. The 14" model employs a four-channel driver for the center white and RGB perimeter lamps, while the 18" model uses separate drivers for the center and RGBW perimeter lamps, offering up to five DMX network addresses.
The housing consists of a die-cast aluminum baseplate and frontal heat sink trim, finished with TGIC polyester powder coat and five-stage pre-treatment to withstand a 1,000-hour salt spray test per ASTM B117. Surface wall or ceiling installation over a recessed junction box is standard, with ambient operating temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C. Four-point mounting ensures stability, and the trim assembly is secured to the baseplate with three concealed tamper-resistant Torx® fasteners.
Lamping in the center engine offers 360° edge-lit output, available in 3000K, 3500K, or 4000K white with a 3-step MacAdam variation allowance and a standard 80 CRI minimum, with optional 90 CRI. The perimeter engine provides circumferential back-lit lamping with static color options including native red, native amber, phosphor-converted mint, or cyan, or RGB/RGBW configurations. The 18" model’s RGBW perimeter includes a 2500K, 70 CRI white LED to achieve broad color gamut and proper white matching, recommended in combination with a 90 CRI center LED. The RGB(W) system uses phosphor-converted red and green with native blue to ensure long life and color stability.
The fixture is UL-certified for damp locations, with optional Emergency Battery Pack (“LEL”) compatibility. It meets NSF2 Splash/Non-Food Zone requirements and has been impact-tested to IK10 standards per IEC 60068-2-75:1997-08. Optics include injection-molded, diffused, UV-stabilized polycarbonate lenses for both the center and perimeter light engines, with an inner acrylic light guide in the center to ensure uniform light distribution. Photometric performance has been validated to IESNA LM-79-08 standards by an ILAC/ISO17025 accredited laboratory, confirming reliable, consistent light output for healthcare and behavioral health environments.
