The surface mount single-face exit sign is designed for wall or ceiling installation, offering reliable visibility and durability in demanding indoor environments. Engineered with indirect Red or Green LEDs, the sign provides clear and legible guidance in emergency situations. A built-in internal battery backup system ensures the fixture remains operational during power interruptions, enhancing safety and code compliance. Constructed from high-impact polycarbonate, the exit sign delivers robust physical protection against impacts and tampering, making it suitable for high-traffic or public spaces. Applications for this fixture include parks and recreation facilities, multifamily housing, cafeterias, restrooms, stairwells, schools and universities, foyers and lobbies, corridors, gymnasiums, multipurpose rooms, and natatoriums, as well as general exit marking.
The canopy of the exit sign is crafted from high-impact injection-molded polycarbonate and is mounted on a heavy-gauge galvanized steel plate with integral 1/4-20 threaded studs. The canopy mounting plate features four-point mounting holes, one wireway hole, and temporary junction box mounting holes for secure and versatile installation. A closed-cell die-cut neoprene gasket seals the canopy to the mounting surface, providing environmental protection and maintaining fixture integrity. The housing of the exit sign is also high-impact injection-molded polycarbonate, with top and side mounting and wireway drill points for flexible installation options. A closed-cell die-cut neoprene gasket seals the housing to the canopy to ensure a secure, weather-resistant assembly.
Electrical components include a 624 nm Red or 527 nm Green LED light source, mounted on a removable high-impact polycarbonate chassis. The sign is Remote Exit Ready, capable of powering one Kenall METSS Satellite Exit, providing scalable emergency exit solutions. Standard installation requires four-point mounting to maintain the Peace of Mind Guarantee®, and drill points are provided for optional conduit entry to accommodate various electrical configurations.
The legend is illuminated by internal high-output LEDs, with lettering six inches high and a 0.750-inch stroke for maximum readability. Polycarbonate red or green filter panels, combined with high-impact injection-molded stencil and field-selectable chevron inserts, allow for versatile directional signage. The fixture is certified UL and CUL for Wet Locations, UL certified IP64 per IEC 60598, and meets or exceeds UL924 and NFPA 101 standards, as well as CSA and NRCAN requirements, ensuring code-compliant installation across multiple regions.
Optional emergency power solutions include a sealed nickel-cadmium Emergency Battery Pack (EL) with standard deep-cycle battery conditioning, self-test and self-diagnostic circuitry, remote laser-activated test switch, protected mechanical test switch, and status indicator. This battery pack provides 120 minutes of emergency operation and is suitable for ambient temperatures of 10°C to 45°C (50°F to 113°F). A Cold Weather Emergency Battery Pack (CEL) is available for extreme environments, operating from -45°C to 45°C (-49°F to 113°F). When used in conjunction with a Kenall METSS, the fixture provides 90 minutes of emergency operation.
The exit sign also includes a UV-stabilized, high-impact clear polycarbonate shield, nominally 0.120 inches thick. The shield is secured to the housing with captive stainless steel Torx® fasteners with center pins and is sealed with a continuous closed-cell silicone gasket, providing additional protection against impacts, environmental exposure, and tampering. With its robust construction, versatile installation options, and reliable emergency functionality, this surface mount single-face LED exit sign offers long-lasting performance and dependable safety for a wide range of commercial, institutional, and recreational environments.
