The Casambi Cloud Gateway enables remote monitoring and control of a Casambi network over the internet, allowing users to access real-time data and manage lighting systems from anywhere. This gateway is based on Raspberry Pi 4 hardware, providing reliable performance and connectivity through both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections. Users interact with the gateway through the Casambi App, which provides the full range of network control functionalities. Two variants of the gateway are available: the PSU version (CGW-001-PSU) and the Power over Ethernet (PoE) version (CGW-001-POE). The PSU variant comes with a power adapter suitable for EU, UK, US, AU, and PRC regions, while the PoE version includes a splitter that separates power from data for connection to a separate input. The gateway’s flash memory is stored on a hardware-dedicated SD card, ensuring reliable operation.
The Casambi Cloud Gateway offers extensive lighting control capabilities. Users can create and manage groups, scenes, and animations, dim or switch individual luminaires or entire groups on or off, and control color temperature, hue, and saturation through the app’s control slider. Timers can also be created and edited, giving precise automated control over lighting schedules. These functions make the gateway suitable for both simple lighting setups and complex, full-featured intelligent mesh networks, allowing complete control over Casambi-enabled devices from any internet-connected location.
The hardware specifications of the Casambi Cloud Gateway reflect its robust design. It is powered by a Broadcom BCM2711 Quad-core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC running at 1.5 GHz and equipped with 4GB LPDDR4-3200 SDRAM. Wireless connectivity includes 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi, as well as Bluetooth 5.0 and BLE. The gateway also features Gigabit Ethernet, USB-C and Ethernet ports, and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) for flexible installation. The device operates on 5V DC via the USB-C connector, requiring a minimum current of 3A, and functions reliably in ambient temperatures from 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (0 to 50 degrees Celsius). The gateway holds 47 certifications, including CE, FCC, IC, UK CA, and KCC, ensuring compliance with global standards.
Security considerations are an integral part of the Casambi Cloud Gateway. The device initiates all network traffic, and no incoming connections are permitted, while all internet communications are encrypted via HTTPS. Installers are advised to follow industry best practices, such as deploying the gateway on a network separate from critical business devices and placing it in a secure physical location. Installation instructions, including the required network settings, are provided in the gateway’s installation guide to ensure safe and proper operation. The Casambi Cloud Gateway is intended for indoor use only, supports a single gateway per Casambi network, and is compatible exclusively with networks running Casambi Evolution firmware.
This combination of robust hardware, secure connectivity, and comprehensive Casambi app integration makes the Casambi Cloud Gateway a powerful solution for remotely controlling and monitoring intelligent lighting networks in real time.
