The Aria X2 Transceiver is a professional-grade, single-universe wireless lighting solution designed to redefine how lighting is managed in both shop environments and on show sites. Engineered for seamless indoor operation, it combines next-generation control with efficiency and ease of use. This cutting-edge transceiver is part of the larger Aria Wireless Management System, which introduces an advanced framework for lighting control that adapts dynamically to user needs. Whether deployed in a fixed installation or used as a mobile solution for live productions, Aria X2 brings a new level of control and reliability to wireless lighting.
At its core, the Aria X2 harnesses robust wireless technologies and supports multiple radio spectrums. It transmits and receives on standard 802.15.4 channels within the 2.4GHz range, as well as the 915MHz band for the U.S. and 868/863MHz for European regions. This frequency agility allows Aria X2 to maintain reliable performance even in congested RF environments by seamlessly switching between spectrums. A planned implementation of adaptive frequency hopping will further enhance network reliability while reducing the need for manual configuration.
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) plays a key role in simplifying device setup, enabling quick configuration directly from the fixture’s menu. BLE also supports creative applications such as individualized DMX channel control. The system is designed for future-proof operation with Over-The-Air (OTA) updates for Aria firmware, fixture firmware, and menus, all accessed via a cloud repository and deployed efficiently through a service app. Additionally, upcoming multi-hop DMX mesh functionality will allow for synchronized updates across the network.
Aria X2’s wireless mesh technology ensures low latency, minimal collisions, and scalability across complex lighting setups. It utilizes a versatile multi-hop DMX protocol and is being developed to further reduce user intervention by automatically optimizing network performance based on internal metrics.
Technically, Aria X2 supports a single DMX universe and offers wireless-to-DMX and DMX-to-wireless conversion. It is compatible with DMX and Bluetooth 5.2 BLE, along with a proprietary 802.15.4-based Aria Mesh Protocol and Aria X2 Serial Protocol. While RDM and the full Mesh Protocol are planned for future software updates, the current offering already provides substantial versatility and integration potential.
The RF capabilities include operating frequencies of 2404–2480 MHz globally, 863–870 MHz for Europe, and 902–928 MHz for the U.S. The transceiver uses a dedicated Aria X2 radio module with interference mitigation features like CSMA and planned adaptive frequency hopping. OTA update functionality is also built-in to streamline maintenance and feature upgrades.
In terms of compliance, Aria X2 meets rigorous international standards for health, safety, EMC, and radio performance, including EN IEC 62311:2020, EN 62368-1:2020, and various ETSI standards covering interference and radio operation.
Physically, the transceiver is housed in an IP20-rated aluminum/metal enclosure with a digital front panel screen and rotary knob for intuitive interaction. It features antenna connectivity via 5G JT SMA, standard 5-pin XLR DMX input and output, and power through a 2.5mm/5.5mm barrel connector or outdoor locking power input. Accessories for rack and wall mounting are available, and the unit includes M10 and M12 threads and a safety eyelet for secure installation.
The device operates on AC100–240V at 50/60Hz with a power consumption of just 2W. It is protected by a T1.25A/250V fuse and is designed for a maximum ambient temperature of 113°F (45°C) and humidity below 75%. Storage is recommended at 77°F (25°C).
The Aria X2 Transceiver brings future-ready functionality, robust wireless infrastructure, and intuitive design to professionals seeking reliable, adaptive lighting control in both permanent and temporary installations.
