Architectural LED Spot and Flood Light for Wall Washing, Grazing, and Exterior Lighting

The FL50-G2-IM is the latest generation of flood and spot luminaires within the FL product series, featuring advanced color-changing inner mixing technology designed for architectural lighting applications. Built on GVA’s award-winning COLOR-STREAM® platform, this fixture offers communication speeds up to 16 times faster than traditional DMX, enabling liquid-smooth dimming and seamless color transitions. By integrating COLOR-AMP® technology with in-optic light mixing, the FL50-G2-IM achieves superior color uniformity and delivers up to three times the light output compared to conventional multichannel luminaires, providing outstanding flexibility for architectural wall washing, grazing, and spot lighting projects.

The fixture uses 12 quadchip LEDs combined with in-optic light mixing to achieve excellent color consistency and delivers up to 1,907 lumens per channel thanks to COLOR-AMP®. The COLOR-STREAM® platform supports high-speed communication at 6.25 Mbps, with refresh rates reaching up to 120 frames per second and a 12-bit dimming resolution operating at a 40 kHz dimming frequency. The FL50-G2-IM can be deployed in continuous runs of up to 79 fixtures using GVA’s INFINITY® technology, facilitated by leader and jumper cables extending up to 100 meters (328 feet). Power-data through-wiring is enabled via sealed push lock connectors for ease of installation and durability.

Designed to perform reliably in a wide range of environments, the FL50-G2-IM operates in temperatures from -40°C to +50°C (-40°F to 122°F) and includes inherent progressive thermal protection. It meets the ANSI C136.31-2018 vibration standard, making it suitable for demanding applications such as bridges and overpasses. The fixture is compact and lightweight, measuring 228 mm by 251 mm by 84 mm (9.0 in x 9.9 in x 3.3 in) and weighing just 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs). Its durable diecast aluminum housing features a highly weatherable and UV-resistant AAMA 2604 compliant powder coating, suitable for both interior and exterior architectural use. The optically clear tempered glass lens provides excellent optical clarity while maintaining an IP66 rating, ensuring protection against dust, moisture, and harsh weather conditions.

Control options are versatile, supporting Art-Net 4, sACN, DMX-512A, and DALI/DALI 2 protocols through GVA’s Power-Data Converter (PDC-GEN5). The fixture offers color-changing configurations in RGBW30K and RGBA variants, with an impressively wide selection of 13 symmetrical and elliptical optical distributions. Additional optical accessories are available to manage glare. The housing is offered in white, silver, and black powder coat finishes as standard, with custom colors and mounting options available upon request to suit specific project requirements.

Each FL50-G2-IM fixture is controlled via four channels and is fully dimmable by default, providing exceptionally smooth dimming and color transitions. GVA’s proprietary COLOR-STREAM® communication protocol supports up to a 120 Hz refresh rate, with a default of 60 Hz, and 12-bit dimming resolution delivering 4,096 micro-steps per color channel. The dimming frequency up to 40 kHz guarantees flicker-free lighting, ideal for both human eyes and high-speed video recording, with no audible noise throughout the dimming range. The configurable exponential dimming curve is designed to match the human eye’s perception of brightness changes, ensuring visually comfortable and precise lighting control.

With a projected LED lifetime of over 50,000 hours at 25°C (77°F), the FL50-G2-IM offers long-term reliability and efficiency for demanding architectural lighting installations in dry, damp, or wet locations, accommodating 0-100% humidity. The fixture is IEC classified as ELV – Class III for low voltage and AC/INF – Class I for alternating or infinite voltage inputs, supporting a wide range of power options from 100 VAC to 380 VDC. Its IK07 impact rating ensures durability against mechanical shocks, making it a robust choice for both indoor and outdoor architectural lighting needs.
