Helvar, a leading innovator in the lighting industry, is excited to announce the launch of Helvar Senses, a groundbreaking solution that incorporates smart environmental sensing into the Helvar offering for creating even more adaptable and sustainable spaces.

“We believe that buildings can become more sustainable and energy efficient than they are today while still providing a fantastic occupant experience. At Helvar, we are very excited to be launching our latest innovation, Helvar Senses, which enables smart buildings to become more energy efficient while better supporting people’s wellbeing. With Helvar Senses, we can make smart buildings more future-proof by allowing them to evolve over their lifetime — thereby realising our mission of Brighter Spaces”, says Adel Hattab, CEO of Helvar.

Helvar Senses is an evolutionary step for Helvar intelligent lighting solutions adding environmental sensing and insights. As lighting sensors are typically the densest sensor network in a building, incorporating environmental senses such as light, CO2, VOCs, temperature, humidity, sound and air pressure becomes a very practical way to collect data about the overall conditions in the space. When this data is combined with occupancy data and refined through analytics, building owners and operators have an improved understanding of how to optimise the spaces.

“Helvar Senses can interact with other building services to create the best occupant experience with the lowest possible emissions. By breaking free from traditional building system silos, we can unlock the full potential of buildings and help them to continuously learn”, says Thet Oo, Director of Wired Solutions at Helvar.

Helvar Senses addresses the issue of wasted energy consumption during the operational phase of the building. It’s estimated that buildings typically consume two to five times more energy than initially predicted at the design stage, due to the actual usage of spaces deviating too much from the original design. This results in unnecessary costs for building owners and a negative environmental impact.

Helvar Senses equips building owners and operators with the tools to significantly improve operational efficiency, measure performance, reduce energy consumption, and thereby lessen emissions. All of these are necessary outcomes to achieve sustainability goals and help comply with directives such as CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive).

Air quality has been identified by the World Health Organization as the single largest global health risk if not actively managed. By combining climate, air quality, acoustics and space usage data, Helvar Senses drives Helvar’s impact beyond lighting, helping to facilitate easy communication between different building systems, allowing systems to share experiences and data, and to learn and evolve beyond their initial design.
Helvar is proudly introducing several new sensors for high bay applications to its portfolio. Luminaire-based sensors will be available both for DALI-2 and Helvar ActiveAhead™ solutions. These sensors fit to a Zhaga Book 20 based rectangular 60x22mm hole on a luminaire and allow the same luminaire body to be used for both wired DALI-2 as well as wireless ActiveAhead solutions. Luminaire maintenance is also made easier when the sensor can be easily changed without needing to take the luminaire apart.

Moreover, these luminaire-based sensors are IP65 rated from the outside, allowing them to meet the needs of different types of installation environments. Movement detection is supported for to up to 17 meters and the sensors also include a light sensor, which is recommended to be used using a bright-out function. Also, a batten mountable accessory will be made available when the sensor cannot be mounted on to the luminaire frame. This accessory makes it possible to achieve the IP65 rating for the luminaire.

In addition to the high bay versions, Helvar will also introduce products for lower ceiling heights fitting to a smaller 44x17mm slot on a luminaire. These allow for additional flexibility in projects with different ceiling heights while using the same technology, solution, and design.

The following products and accessories are now available:
Helvar is also introducing ceiling mountable high bay sensors with radio for its award-winning intelligent wireless lighting control solution ActiveAhead. These mains-powered products, 5641 Node Multisensor High Bay and 5640 ActiveAhead Node Multisensor, can be used as wireless sensors for the ActiveAhead system. In addition, they also include a DALI output with an integrated DALI power supply allowing you to connect DALI devices to it. The Node Multisensor includes the same kind of smart capabilities as the highly appraised ActiveAhead Node Advanced, meaning the ability to connect and control individual DALI luminaires and selected DALI devices such as sensors and relays.

5641 Node Multisensor High Bay detects movement in up to 14 m installation heights. It also includes a light sensor for bright-out functions. A surface mount backbox is included with the product and a flush mount backbox is available as an accessory. The product is available in white and black colours. At the same time, Helvar is bringing 5640 Node Multisensor products to the market for typical indoor ceiling heights.

With these new high bay products, the benefits and easiness of ActiveAhead can be brought to industrial applications— a popular request from ActiveAhead customers thanks to the solution’s capabilities which are seen to fit very well in such applications.
Helvar is excited to announce the expansion of our LED driver offering with a new product category: INDUSTRIAL DALI-2. The new LL165HE-DA-300-1050-IND LED driver is ground-breaking with its whopping 165W power in a standard 360 x 30 x 21mm linear mechanics. Using standard mechanics allows customers to upgrade their high-power high bay indoor luminaires to industrial models and with 165W customers can extend their luminaire offering to higher brightness levels. The LL165HE-DA-300-1050-IND LED driver has an operating window from 300mA to 1050mA that will cover a wide range of luminaire models. Setting the output current and other LED driver parameters can be done with NFC.

LL165HE-DA-300-1050-IND LED driver withstands 4kV surge, lifetime exceeds 100k hrs, ambient temperature range goes up to 70 ᵒC and the LED driver has very high efficiency. Also, LL165HE-DA-300-1050-IND is the first Helvar LED driver with an 8-year warranty as a standard. With SmartData (DALI 251,252,253) features driver can report vital information like energy consumption and diagnostics. SmartData helps building owners to optimize and maintain their lighting installations.
