Commercial Indoor Lighting
Commercial indoor lighting provides an illuminance appropriate for activities taking place inside office buildings, shopping centers, retail buildings, warehouses and distribution centers, educational facilities, hospitals, and other public facilities. Lighting is a critical element in these environments. It affects the occupants' physiological and psychological responses to a space. Commercial indoor lighting should address all human needs such as visibility and visual comfort in order to support organizational productivity, social interactions, aesthetic perceptions, workplace safety, environmental and job satisfaction. Commercial lighting must be implemented with great awareness of energy efficiency.
LED lighting can improve the quality of light, while simultaneously offering opportunities to provide energy savings beyond improved source efficiency. The technology also offers the possibility of new form factors and design features to define and enhance space and architecture. Troffers (including
volumetric troffers and
LED panel lights),
LED downlights, and
linear light fixtures are ubiquitous in
commercial lighting applications.
