Recessed floor lights are architectural grade light fixtures designed to highlight walls, accentuate objects, enhance interior design features, create atmosphere, and define visual direction and boundaries. They usually sit flush with the level of a floor so that the fixtures do not visually detract the architectural aesthetic and there is no lip to trip over. Recessed lighting provides an additional layer of light which helps produce a more balanced visual composition. It adds depth, dimension, and character to a space. Uplighting with symmetrical light distributions creates very dramatic effects to showcase focal points. Uplighting with asymmetrical light distributions is used for vertical surface lighting. The treatment of vertical surfaces with wall washing flattens textures and hide surface imperfections in a wall. Uplighting at an acute angle from a position close to a surface accentuates shadows and textures, which helps highlight interesting textured surfaces. Recessed floor lights radiate out horizontally from under a low-rise dome to illuminate the floor, provide visual guidance, and identify architectural lines.
