Mirror lighting is a landscape lighting technique that involves illuminating a background scene to reflect it into a nearby body of water. The technique takes advantage of the reflective surface of water features to create visual interest. Placing a light fixture such as a well light between water and the object near the water, the object will be reflected in water. Downlighting the object should be avoided as the light source will be reflected in the water causing glare.
