The VE LED Down Light offers soft illumination from above, making it ideal for creating a moonlighting effect when suspended from trees or architectural features. This lighting fixture is perfect for enhancing seating areas, focal points, or landscaping elements, and is available with either 1 or 3 LEDs for varying light outputs. Crafted from die-cast A380 aluminum, it also offers an optional copper sleeve and features a durable two-layer marine-grade anodization paired with a powder coat finish. The fixture is available in natural, powder-coated, or antiqued copper finishes, combining both aesthetic appeal and robust weather resistance.
Equipped with integrated Lumileds® LEDs, the VE is compatible with Luxor® technology and supports both phase and PWM dimming for precise lighting control. Operating on a low voltage input of 10 to 15 volts, it delivers efficient performance with lumen outputs ranging from 91 to 221 depending on the LED configuration. The color rendering index (CRI) remains high at 80+ or above, ensuring vibrant and accurate color representation. Additionally, the fixture supports zoning and dimming options through Luxor’s ZD or ZDC controls, with the ZDC option enabling full RGBW color control.
The housing and shroud of the VE are built from die-cast aluminum and include stainless steel hardware such as setscrews, hanging cables, and cable locks to ensure secure installation. The lamp holder incorporates MoistureBlock™ technology to prevent moisture ingress, protecting the fixture’s internal components. The integrated Cree LEDs boast gold-plated connectors and conformal coating for enhanced reliability and corrosion resistance, along with an intelligent driver featuring firmware-controlled temperature regulation to maximize LED lifespan. These LEDs are rated for up to 50,000 hours and are field upgradeable and replaceable.
Wiring consists of 18 AWG, SPT-1W cable rated for high temperatures, extending 26 feet to accommodate versatile installation needs. Power input is specified at 10–15 VAC or VDC, 50/60 Hz, requiring a separate remote transformer. Optics include interchangeable polycarbonate lenses that adjust color temperature from 2,700K (preinstalled) to options of 3,900K, 4,500K, and 5,200K, as well as a variety of beam angles between 10° and 58°, allowing customization for specific lighting effects. Additional accessories such as color filters and baffles can be used with MR-16 sized components.
The tempered glass lens is frosted for glare reduction, designed to withstand shocks and thermal expansion. The fixture’s finish provides excellent protection against outdoor elements, employing sulfuric acid anodization and polyester TGIC powder coating, and has been tested to ASTM standards. The VE operates reliably within ambient temperatures from 0°F to 140°F (-18°C to 60°C) and weighs approximately 1.3 pounds (0.6 kg).
For advanced lighting control, the VE supports Luxor’s ZD or ZDC technology, enabling zoning of up to 250 groups, fine dimming increments, and a palette of 30,000 colors with RGBW LEDs. The fixture is designed for downward-only installation and complies with international standards such as IEC 60598-1 and IEC 60598-2-7 when selecting the “e” version. It holds certifications including UL (US), CE, RoHS, IP64 for ingress protection, and is approved by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA), making it suitable for environmentally responsible outdoor lighting applications.
