Water Cooling LED Grow Light for Commercial Greenhouses with High PPFD Output and Spectral Flexibility

The Oreon Empress, known as one of the Dutch Powerhouse LED fixtures, offers a powerful and efficient solution for greenhouse lighting with a variety of light spectra and a wide beam angle. This design enables optimal light uniformity tailored to the specific needs of different crops. Whether choosing between the Empress or the Monarch, the decision is guided by a tailored lighting plan, ensuring the best fit for the cultivation environment.

A defining feature of the Empress is its active water cooling system, a hallmark of Oreon's LED technology. Unlike traditional lighting systems, the Empress emits no radiant heat, which helps create a more stable greenhouse climate. This stability simplifies the control of both temperature and CO₂ levels, contributing to healthier crop development and more predictable growth cycles. Additionally, the system's ability to recover and reuse heat delivers clear economic advantages. By keeping the fixture at a low operating temperature, the cooling system not only preserves the efficiency of light output but also significantly extends the lifespan of the LEDs and driver components.

Engineered for durability and high performance, the Empress features a robust construction, a protective glass LED cover, and an IP67 rating for resistance against dust and water. Its compact design minimizes shading, allowing more natural sunlight to reach the crops while still delivering exceptional output.

The Empress boasts a high photon flux of up to 2,750 μmol/s and a remarkable efficacy of 4.1 μmol/J—more than twice as efficient as traditional high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps, which typically reach 1.9 μmol/J. This level of performance makes it suitable for full HPS replacement or integration into a hybrid lighting setup. At 710 watts of power and operating across a voltage range of 277–480 VAC, the fixture maintains reliable performance while optimizing energy usage.

With water as the cooling medium, the system operates efficiently within a temperature range from the dew point up to 113°F (45°C), imparting up to 269 watts of thermal energy per fixture into the cooling system—energy that can be repurposed elsewhere in the facility. This thermal management contributes not only to overall energy efficiency but also to long-term product reliability, supporting a lifespan rated at L90 B05 – 50,000 hours.

Certified to ANSI/CAN/UL 8800 standards and backed by a five-year warranty, the Empress delivers consistent performance, minimal heat emission, and spectral customization tailored to the crop. With its precise mix of red and blue light, it ensures plants receive the most effective spectrum for optimal photosynthesis, growth, and productivity, all while maintaining a compact, low-maintenance footprint.
