UAV Position and Strobe LED Beacon Light for Night Visibility and Air Traffic Compliance

Originally engineered at the request of leading UAV manufacturers—many of whom now integrate Aveo lighting into their platforms—the MiniMax Ariel is a compact yet powerful beacon LED light designed for professional drone and UAV applications. Its hemispheric light output makes it especially effective as an anti-collision light, and its minimal footprint allows for flexible placement on both the upper and lower fuselage. When combined with Aveo’s DayLite wing lights, the MiniMax Ariel creates a highly visible, full-coverage lighting system that enhances airborne safety and visibility.

The MiniMax Ariel is available in white, amber, red, or infrared LED color variants, making it suitable for both standard visibility and covert operations. Despite its small size, the unit delivers exceptional performance in even the most demanding conditions. It is fully waterproof, dust-proof, shock-proof, and vibration-proof, offering reliable protection in harsh environmental situations. The operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +75°C (or -40°F to +167°F), with integrated overheat protection activating at +85°C (or +185°F), ensuring continuous operation without damage from thermal stress.

Designed to accommodate a wide range of power systems, the MiniMax Ariel supports an input voltage range from 9 to 36 volts DC. In strobe mode, it draws a current of 2.0 amps at 12 volts and delivers 24 watts of output power. In steady mode, the power consumption is significantly lower, drawing just 0.22 amps at 12 volts with a power output of 2.6 watts. The advanced strobe pattern is carefully timed to flash at intervals of 100/50 milliseconds, followed by two alternating 50/950 millisecond pulses, creating a strong, attention-grabbing signal that enhances aerial awareness and compliance with visibility standards.

Safety and durability are core to the MiniMax Ariel’s design, featuring built-in under-voltage lockout at 9 volts and over-voltage lockout at 36 volts. It also offers transient voltage protection rated up to 60 volts, safeguarding sensitive internal components from power fluctuations. The wiring system is protected with Teflon insulation rated to 500 volts and includes a minimum of 254 millimeters (10 inches) of wire extending from the base of the unit, allowing for flexible installation options. Each power and synchronization line is color-coded and precision-engineered to ensure compatibility with standard UAV electrical systems.

Weighing just 53 grams (1.87 ounces), the MiniMax Ariel combines robust construction with exceptional performance, offering a lightweight and compact safety solution for drone lighting. With its hemispheric beam output, multiple color options, and advanced strobe functionality, this beacon light meets the evolving visibility and anti-collision needs of UAV operators worldwide.
