The turtle-safe vandal-resistant louvered nightlight is a sealed, gasketed, UL wet-listed fixture designed to deliver controlled static color illumination in both exterior and interior environments, including covered ceiling exteriors, stairways, walls, and walkways. Its LED light source is available in environmental yellow/amber at 590nm or optional environmental red/orange at 617nm, producing true color output that is not phosphor converted and emits no light below 560nm. This wavelength-specific performance aligns with FWC-approved turtle-safe requirements, while the integrated 30° louvers direct light downward to maintain visibility with minimal uplight or glare. Operating at 4 watts with a 60,000-hour rated life (L70), the nightlight provides a subtle, controlled output suitable for safety-oriented circulation zones without overpowering the surrounding environment.
Although no dimming is included, the fixture incorporates a constant current, electronically stabilized LED power supply operating from 120–277V at 50–60 Hz. The driver performs consistently in demanding conditions, with a minimum operating temperature of -22°F (-30°C) and load-insensitive behavior. The optical system works in conjunction with a clear poly lens positioned behind the louvered faceplate, secured by captive stainless-steel fasteners and sealed with neoprene O-rings. This assembly supports the open-look lens aesthetic while preserving a sealed interface that meets ASTM E283 restricted airflow of 2 CFM maximum.
The vandal-resistant construction centers on a seamless die-formed louvered faceplate that is gasketed, easily removable for servicing, and secured with tamper-resistant screws; a tamperproof tool is supplied. The standard white finish may be replaced with optional colors. The shallow 2-1/2" housing is made from acrylic-enameled aluminum that is corrosion resistant, exceeding the 1000-hour ASTM 5% salt spray test for performance in high-moisture and salt-air environments. This housing promotes cool operation to extend component life and uses a modular design that remains visible and fully serviceable through the aperture.
For installation, the fixture recesses into walls indoors or outdoors and includes adjustable mounting slide brackets that span between studs up to 22 inches apart. With Build America, Buy America (BABAA) compliance and UL and C-UL listings for wet locations, the nightlight delivers a durable, turtle-friendly, vandal-resistant solution for low-level pathway lighting in demanding architectural and environmental conditions.
