Thru-Hull Underwater LED Boat Light with Multizone DMX Bridge and Remote Control Options

The OceanLED Explore E6 & E7 TH are the ultimate through-hull underwater LED lighting solutions for yachts requiring high-performance illumination in a compact and versatile form. Purpose-built for transoms and angled hulls, these models retain all the power and technical innovation of the Explore E6 and E7 XFM versions, but in a new thru-hull design that accommodates a broader range of installation scenarios. With options for Dual Blue/White or full RGBW DMX colour output, the Explore TH models offer boat owners the flexibility to create the perfect underwater lighting experience.

One of the standout features of the Explore E6 & E7 TH is the use of OceanLED's signature advanced optics. These high-efficiency reflector optics deliver superior light distribution by focusing and angling the beam to minimize loss while maximizing reach. The optics produce a defined 90° x 20° beam, creating a uniform halo of light around the yacht when spaced properly. From above, this lighting pattern dramatically reduces dark zones near the hull and enhances the yacht’s lines and presence on the water.

What truly sets the Explore E7 TH apart is its innovative angled optic options, ranging from 10° to 50°, allowing the light beam to be adjusted internally to counteract the shape of angled hulls. This patent-pending feature marks the Explore E7 TH as the first of its kind in the market, offering tailored illumination where it’s needed most. A standard 0° optic is also available for the E6, providing seamless compatibility and flexibility to mix and match units across different hull positions for optimal effect.

In terms of protection and reliability, the Explore TH series has been rigorously tested and certified to IP69K—the highest standard available for protection against water ingress. This rating surpasses the more common IP68 standard and ensures that the fixtures can withstand both continuous submersion and high-pressure washing. Additionally, the rear of the light body is protected against temporary in-hull submersion, a common occurrence when waves or rough seas flood the transom or stern area. This added defense gives boat owners total peace of mind in any marine condition.

Control of the Explore TH lighting system is flexible and intuitive, with multiple control options available. Users can choose from integrated DMX control via the OceanBridge Multizone Controller, physical switch or push-button control, remote operation using the OceanDMX RC Controller kit, or DMX panels such as the OceanDMX TP or WTP Plus. These versatile control solutions allow seamless integration into both basic and complex lighting systems.

Despite their compact form, the Explore E6 & E7 TH models deliver powerful output. The Dual Colour variant produces up to 11,000 fixture lumens (Ultra White), while the RGBW Colours DMX version outputs up to 6,000 lumens. The 6500K correlated colour temperature delivers crisp, bright white light, and the RGBW model uses a total of 84 high-efficiency LEDs (25 Red, 19 Green, 20 Blue, 20 White), providing vibrant full-spectrum performance. Thanks to OceanLED’s advanced optics, this high output is achieved with reduced power consumption and maximum effect in the water.

Power requirements are well within the range of most yacht electrical systems. The Explore TH lights operate on 10–32V DC or optionally via 100–240V AC using the AC Power Kit. The current draw for the Dual Colour version is 7.8A at 12V or 4.7A at 24V, and for Colours DMX, 6.8A at 12V or 3.2A at 24V. For AC configurations, Dual Colour draws 1,190mA at 110V or 570mA at 230V, while Colours DMX draws 830mA at 110V and 400mA at 230V. An external driver powers the unit and features a built-in indicator LED that reports status or fault conditions, ensuring easy diagnostics and system monitoring.

Physically, the Explore E6 & E7 TH models maintain a sleek and durable construction. The light body is crafted from AB2 marine-grade aluminium bronze with a linear micro-faceted reflector optic, delivering both performance and corrosion resistance. The fixture measures 110mm (4.33") in diameter, with a slim 26mm (1") profile and an overall length of 152mm (5.98"). A minimum withdrawal space of 212mm (8.35") is required for servicing, and installation calls for a 25mm (0.94") hull cut-out. The complete fixture weighs just 1.06kg (3.5 lbs).

The external driver housing is equally compact and robust, with a 104mm (4.10") diameter, 59mm height, and 149mm (5.86") length, and weighs 0.60kg (1.3 lbs). This driver ensures efficient power management and supports OceanLED’s Active Thermal Control (ATC) technology. The ATC system continuously monitors and adjusts output to prevent overheating, extending LED lifespan and ensuring optimal performance in all conditions.

Altogether, the OceanLED Explore E6 & E7 TH lights are the most advanced and versatile thru-hull underwater lights available. With unmatched optical precision, full colour control, IP69K-rated durability, angled optic innovation, and compatibility with both XFM and Weld-in systems, they are the ideal choice for high-performance yachts seeking beautiful, powerful, and intelligent underwater lighting.
