Suspended LED Street Globe Light for Urban Pathways, Parking Areas, and Historical City Centers

The Halo 600 Suspended is a catenary wire-suspended outdoor luminaire designed by Stefan Borselius for Ateljé Lyktan. Created to harmonize with both historic cityscapes and modern architectural settings, Halo was conceived as a luminous sphere that blends into its surroundings while offering both functional and aesthetic value. “I started out with a basic shape, the circle, a sphere,” says Borselius. “I wanted to create something that would blend in with the surroundings. A shining globe, like a little moon.”

The luminaire is designed to provide a warm, comfortable LED light that accentuates the spherical form while delivering optimal downward illumination for street lighting. A subtle accent glow surrounds the fixture, enhancing its presence as a glowing orb in urban spaces. The dark aluminum edging outlines the circular form and is echoed at the top of the fixture, giving it a refined and contemporary aesthetic.

Crafted from die-cast aluminum, the luminaire body is paired with an impact-resistant opal acrylic shade. It comes equipped with Ateljé Lyktan’s high-performance LED module, utilizing high-power diodes combined with precision lenses to achieve efficient and tailored light distribution. It is available in color temperatures of 3000K or 4000K, with a minimum CRI of 80 and an exceptional rated lifetime of L100 B10 at 100,000 hours. The globe itself emits 80 lumens of soft uplight, enhancing its appearance as a lit object in the night landscape.

To accommodate diverse urban lighting needs, the Halo 600 is offered with multiple light distributions: LM1 provides symmetrical rectangular lighting for standard street applications; LM2 offers an asymmetrical beam for streets and pathways; LM3 is suited for wider roads and parking areas. The downlight is powered by a programmable outdoor-rated driver supporting DALI, nightDIM, CLO, and various lumen outputs up to 4000 lumens, with a lifetime of 100,000 hours and less than 10% failure. Uplight in symmetrical models uses a separate driver; note that DALI is not supported for the uplight component.

The fixture is suspended on stainless steel catenary wires with a thickness of up to 10 mm and is supplied with a 0.5-meter rubber cable and a 5-pin IP65 screw connector. The standard terminal box does not allow for through-wiring, though this can be provided on request. A deglaring louvre and toughened safety glass diffuser are available for additional visual comfort.

Rated at IK08 for impact resistance and with a projected wind area of 0.16 m², the Halo 600 is built to withstand outdoor environments. The luminaire weighs 15.5 kg and is protected to IP65 standards. It is painted for environments corresponding to corrosivity category C3, making it suitable for urban or light industrial areas with moderate pollution. For harsher conditions, a high-resistance coating can be requested. Arms for mounting are sold separately. This product contains a light source with an energy efficiency class F under regulation (EU) No 2019/2015.
