The Streamlight Sidewinder® X High-Output, Multi-Fuel Military Light with Tilting Head is a compact, high-performance flashlight engineered for hands-free task illumination across demanding environments. Designed to meet the needs of military, aviation, and tactical users, this right-angle light features a 185-degree tilting head and a durable gear clip for optimal beam positioning. Powered by either (2) AA alkaline batteries or a single 3-volt CR123A lithium battery, it delivers flexibility in the field. Military models include white, red, blue, and IR LEDs, while aviation models come with white, green, blue, and IR LEDs. A user-configurable version is also available, allowing users to choose two of three color options—red, green, or blue—in addition to white and IR.
The Sidewinder® X features a separate mode selector switch that is independent from the dimming/strobe and LED selection functions, ensuring seamless operation. A rubber dome actuator and a four-position pull-to-turn locking rotary selector knob, complete with an IR LED tactile indicator, allow for easy use even while wearing gloves. Illumination begins at low output and progresses through four discrete brightness levels, with a double-click initiating a high-output strobe for signaling or emergencies.
The flashlight uses advanced LED technology for all its light sources. The white LED is impervious to shock and has a 50,000-hour lifetime, while the colored and IR LEDs boast an impressive 100,000-hour lifetime. Peak wavelengths include IR at 950 nm, red at 622 nm, green at 530 nm, and blue at 470 nm. The Sidewinder® X provides white LED output of 275 lumens, a 113-meter beam distance, and 3,200 candela, with runtimes of 4.75 hours on AA batteries and 2.75 hours with a CR123A.
Constructed from high-impact, super-tough nylon, the Sidewinder® X offers superior durability and weather resistance. All openings are O-ring sealed to maintain IPX7 waterproofing (submersible to 1 meter for 30 minutes) and meet MIL-STD-810F standards. The flashlight is also 3-meter multiple-orientation impact resistance tested. A cord attachment hole supports loads up to 50 lbs, and a durable belt/gear clip integrates hands-free or helmet-mounting features. A tactile battery polarity indicator ensures proper battery installation in the dark.
Additional features include a scratch-resistant, gasket-sealed unbreakable polycarbonate lens, and compatibility with existing Sidewinder® helmet mounts. The flashlight measures 4.6 inches in height and weighs 4.4 oz with AA alkaline batteries or 3.3 oz with a CR123A lithium battery, making it an ideal tool for military, aviation, and tactical professionals who demand reliability and versatility.
