The WLS-501 Solar Powered Aircraft Warning Light is an advanced, self-contained solution designed specifically for environments without access to a power grid. Integrating both power supply and lighting in a single unit, this innovative system eliminates the need for ongoing maintenance or external control systems, offering fully automatic operation for maximum convenience and reliability. It is capable of operating continuously for up to five days without sunlight, making it ideal for remote or off-grid installations such as high-rise buildings, communication towers, smokestacks, and other aviation-obstruction structures.

The WLS-501 delivers a high-intensity red flashing light output of 2,000 candelas, ensuring visibility over 14.5 kilometers under standard atmospheric conditions (T=0.85). The light source utilizes long-life, high-luminosity external LEDs, with an optical decay rate not exceeding 30%, ensuring consistent performance over time. Its optics meet both ICAO Annex 14 and FAA regulations, guaranteeing compliance with international aviation safety standards. The flash frequency is adjustable, with a standard setting of 40 flashes per minute.

Durability is a hallmark of the WLS-501. The housing is constructed from die-cast LM6 aluminum with a powder-coated finish, while the lamp cover is made of high-impact polycarbonate, providing exceptional resistance to shock, corrosion, UV exposure, and thermal fluctuations. The battery enclosure is made of cold-rolled steel for added protection, with a UL94-V0 flammability rating for enhanced safety.

A standout feature of the WLS-501 is its integrated controller—an advanced Multipoint Control Unit (MCU)—which handles fault detection, circuit monitoring, circuit protection, and solar system management. The 24W silicon solar panel, known for its high conversion efficiency and reliability, is mounted using a robust stamped bracket that withstands environmental stress and wind speeds up to 70 km/h. The adjustable tilt angle (20–70 degrees) and NNW–SSE orientation provide optimal solar exposure.

The built-in 12V/24AH maintenance-free lead-acid battery ensures reliable energy storage, enabling the system to operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to +70°C and relative humidity levels from 10% to 95% (non-condensing). The system also features automatic dusk-to-dawn activation, with a photocell-triggered on/off level of 70/100 Lux, ensuring energy-efficient performance based on ambient light levels.
