The AV-OL-70 Solar Obstruction and Barricade Light is a rugged, self-contained solar-powered LED lighting solution engineered for reliable performance in a wide range of safety-critical applications. The energy is stored in a high-grade, environmentally friendly NiMH battery, available in two capacities—8.6Ah (B1) for up to 115 hours of operation, or an optional 17.2Ah (B2) battery that extends runtime to 230 hours. A microprocessor-controlled charging system regulates power input for optimal battery performance and lifespan. The battery is also user-replaceable, allowing for long-term field serviceability and cost-effective maintenance.
Featuring automatic night activation via an internal photodiode, the AV-OL-70 operates without user intervention, turning on at dusk and off at dawn. The light source consists of ultra-high intensity LEDs with a full 360-degree horizontal output and a lifespan exceeding 100,000 hours. The lens, made from UV-stabilized LEXAN® polycarbonate, is designed with external optics and interior fluting to optimize light dispersion and visibility.
The unit’s robust construction meets rigorous environmental and operational standards. It is certified to IP68 for superior ingress protection against water and dust, and has been tested to withstand wind speeds up to 160 km/h (100 mph), as well as shock and vibration in accordance with MIL-STD-202G and MIL-STD-810F. The AV-OL-70 also performs reliably across extreme temperatures, from -40°C to +55°C, and in 0 to 100% humidity conditions.
Physically, the light measures 240 mm (9.5 in) in height and 231 mm (9.1 in) in width, with a total weight of 1.4 kg (3.1 lbs) for the B1 version and 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs) for the B2 battery configuration. The design features a mounting base with six 17 mm holes on a 200 mm pitch circle diameter, allowing compatibility with a range of barricade and obstruction setups. The service life of the AV-OL-70 exceeds 12 years, making it a long-term investment for demanding environments.
