Self-Contained Solar LED Aviation Light with RF and Power Line Communication Control Options

The AV-70 is a next-generation, self-contained solar LED light specifically engineered to endure the harshest environmental conditions while requiring minimal ongoing maintenance. This versatile lighting solution is designed for a broad range of aviation and general applications, including emergency airstrip lighting, caution signaling, taxiway guidance, and runway threshold illumination.

Each AV-70 model features an external interface port that enables supplementary battery charging via DC input, ensuring continuous operation even in challenging environments. This interface also supports power line control (PLC) communication, which allows remote control and monitoring of the lighting fixtures. The internal battery protection circuitry safeguards against overcharging, thereby maximizing battery longevity and reliability.

The AV-70 incorporates a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) to optimize the energy harvested from its monocrystalline solar panels. Depending on the variant, the system charges one of three battery sizes: an 8.6Ah battery for the B1 model, a 17.2Ah battery for the B2 model, and a smaller 2.5Ah battery for the B3 variant. This design enables longer run times and greater operational endurance in solar-powered environments.

This solar light supports multiple power configurations, including options with AC input variants. The inclusion of an external interface port for DC supplementary battery charging is standard across all chassis types, providing flexible and reliable power solutions to meet diverse installation needs. Optional Power Line Communication (PLC) and radio frequency (RF) modules further enhance the AV-70’s capabilities, allowing the fixture to receive remote signals to control operation modes, switch between visible and infrared (IR) lighting, and adjust intensity levels. When equipped with FCC-compliant RF options, the AV-70 can utilize both visible and IR LEDs within the same light head or control groups of fixtures selectively.

The AV-70 meets FAA photometric standards, offering three-step intensity adjustments in line with regulatory requirements. It complies with FAA specifications L861T and L863 for runway and taxiway lighting under AC 150/5345-46E, as well as portable runway and taxiway lighting standards under AC 150/5345-50B. The product also adheres to EMC standards EN61000-6-4:2012 and EN61000-6-2:2019, ensuring electromagnetic compatibility. Quality assurance is certified to ISO 9001:2015, and the lighting fixture boasts a robust IP68 waterproof rating, making it highly resistant to water ingress.

The AV-70 utilizes high-quality LED light sources, with available colors including blue and infrared for FAA-compliant variants, and red, green, white, yellow, bi-directional combinations, and IR for non-compliant versions. It provides a full 360-degree horizontal output, offering excellent visibility from all angles. Depending on the variant, intensity adjustment options range from three-step to five-step increments, and the LEDs have an expected operational life exceeding 100,000 hours.

The solar module is constructed from monocrystalline cells, delivering an output power of 2.8 watts from two 1.4-watt panels with an efficiency rate of 21%. Charging is regulated via the MPPT system to maximize solar energy capture. The integrated charger supports DC charging, while an external charger handles AC input. The charge port provides a rated power of 5 watts and accepts input voltages between 90 and 264 volts AC at 50/60 Hz.

In summary, the AV-70 self-contained solar LED light offers a durable, highly efficient, and flexible lighting solution compliant with aviation safety standards. Its advanced solar technology, multiple power and control options, and rugged design make it well suited for demanding aviation and general lighting applications.
