The Hockey Floor lamp is a modern reinterpretation of a design rooted in the 1980s, brought to life by designer Lars Bessfelt. During that decade, Bessfelt discovered a new flat light source that could replace traditional light bulbs, sparking ideas for innovative lighting expressions. Inspired by this technology, he began designing luminaires with distinctive flat screen-like shades. Among his creations, Hockey was the final and perhaps most refined—a wooden floor lamp that embodied simplicity, functionality, and timeless design. Its name was inspired by Bessfelt's love for the sport of hockey in his youth, noting the lamp’s resemblance to a hockey stick.
In its modern relaunch, Hockey has been carefully reimagined using updated materials and an energy-efficient LED light source, all while staying true to Bessfelt’s original vision. The lamp is now available in two elegant versions: one with a stand in smoked oak paired with solid brushed brass accents, and another featuring whitewashed ash with brushed aluminium detailing. Both models are topped with a lampshade made from exclusive Swedish linen fabric, enhancing the sense of craftsmanship and luxury.
Functionally, Hockey is designed to be as intuitive as it is beautiful. The lamp is operated using a pull cord switch for simple on/off control. For those seeking adjustable brightness, dimming is available via the Casambi app, which supports both iOS and Android platforms.
The fixture connects via a halogen-free textile cable, available in black or white, and features an integrated LED light source with a warm 2700K color temperature and CRI 90 for excellent color rendering. As per EU regulation 2019/2015, the light source is classified under energy efficiency class E.
More than just a lighting object, Hockey is a functional piece of art—a tribute to Scandinavian design heritage, now reborn for contemporary interiors.
